Broken cups, broken hearts, torn clothing, baby dolls missing an arm, teddy bears without one eye. Each symbolizing something that has caused a fear or worry to manifest itself within.  Put those things at the foot of that cross.

Asel Art, Whole Foods, visiting my parents, stopping by Northpark, and then finally heading east to home. We have really enjoyed our visit to the grand-baby's house. She rules the roost now as she is already in the terrible twos.  She is very bright and knows all her colors, her animals and their sounds, and actually reads about 100 words... at age 23 months.  She will melt down when we leave. She is a Bampa's little girl all the way through.  When you are little like the Tink, you are comforted by your parents, your grandparents, your favorite blanket or toy... by your bed and your pillow.  We pray with her at night and at meals. We sing about Jesus and God all throu

Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Website As we were driving back yesterday from St Louis to home, I was so tired I drifted off to sleep several times lulled by the motion and speed of the car.  The trip was pretty nice, but we started out early at six in the morning with our first destination STARBUCKS in a small town about an hour and a half down the road. We had decided that was breakfast as we each had a Starbuck OATMEAL and Terry had a mocha Grande.  The we were off into some pretty thick fog for the next two hours and the temps were still just above freezing. As we crossed the Oklahoma border suddenly it was 64 degrees outside and cloudy.  Lunch was at Braums in some small OK town. We had to stop because the roads were so choppy and bumpy it set off our ESP for four wheel tracking in rain

Laurie   © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Blog My Website   Painted Ponies       I thought I was getting up early this morning and would start proofing the 90 page book for the ArtistsofTexas.org Second Annual Art Show.  BUT, as I pulled open this blog to blog I faced a new picture load that didn't make me smile and took forever to get to work correctly.  If things are not broke do not fix them. Not sure why BLOG had to do this. I imagine that might be one of God's favorite mantras.   Here on earth we are all little 'tinkers'.  We 'tinker' with this and we 'tinker' with that and we end up deeper in the 'tink' pile with very complicated lives. With the passing of Terry's Dad, so much has surfaced in our lives with memories and photos and books....I am hoping Terry is inspired to let go of so much of his stuff he

'Spirit Sun Dance Two' 10 x 10  Oil on Canvas Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting: I revisited Spirit Sun Dance with more vivid colors. The Thought: Today is our anniversary.   We prayed together already this morning and will do our morning walk as soon as I am done blogging.   I don't think we will go out to dinner tonight but will wait until we can sneak off together to celebrate this special day. When it comes to getting married and staying married you need God in the center of the relationship.  Then lots of faith, hope, love and respect. God's vision for marriage requires us to be centered in Him and to accept and recognize that we are nothing without Him and when we enter into a relationship, it is to accept each other as we are made, as He made us.  Maybe those vows should be altered a bit,  "Will you accept me as I am and not as you want me to be."   We learn t

Hope to mop the floors.  It almost sounds empty in here.. weird.  I found this prepainted canvas with wonderful mauves, blues and pinks like you see in the sky at sunset as the sun departs the sky and the moon wanes overhead between the sunset clouds.... peaking out early.  We saw those last night on the way home from eating hamburgers...   So as I painted on my newly cleared off table... this came to the top with soft colors showing well used muscles of an ancient horse from my dreams.  He is gorgeous

'Blue Baby' Horse Equine Art Oil Painting by Laurie Pace

'Blue Baby' 18 x 24 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD Contact me with an offer to purchase: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2009 The Painting : Playing off complimentary colors of blue and orange, the strength of this painting is remarkable in person. With my traditionally heavy oils without Impasto, the texture feel of the horse makes him come alive. The Thought :  Coming alive seems to blend right in with a good thought to build on for the day.     A few months ago I never struggled in the early hours at 4:30 am when we crawled out of bed. I have always been an early riser.  Lately after our last three week vacation I became accustomed to sleeping in until eight or  nine in the morning.  When I work up then I was so refreshed and alive.  At 4:30 am there is a struggle to come alive from the depths of sleep.     There are many folks that go through life living each day and not being ALIVE.  Some zombie movies call them the walking dead.   While we

'Colors in the Sun' Horse Equine Painting by Laurie Pace

'Colors in the Sun' 6 x 6 inches Oil on Panel Contact me to purchase. $100  Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design  2009 The Painting :  I am back on tiny canvas doing pieces for an upcoming show at the Dutch Art Gallery.  It will be the first show of the Artists of Texas aka Daily Painters of Texas.  This is Holbein Duo Oils on panel board.  These are so easy to slip into a frame to hang.  A perfect size to begin to collect. The Thought : Every day is filled with potential.  Despite what you think upon rising, it is a new day and it has every positive possibility you could ever dream of.  The only thing that stands in the way of this new day is often you.  We all tend to draw on our fears and negativity and feelings of failure that we assign ourselves.  If we assign it to ourselves, perhaps we should make a sign and hang it around our neck declaring ourselves as unworthy losers. God does not believe so at all .   There is divine potential in every moment of t

'West Escape' Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Pace

'West Escape' 18 x 24 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD Contact me for paintings: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2005 The Painting: This is another from the archives you might say. I am painting this morning in my studio as school has started and things may begin to settle into a pattern now! The Thought : Emotions. We were in the mall shopping for school clothes and our daughter leaned over and said "the Emos will be leaving soon..." I had absolutely no clue to the meaning of this remark and sent her a puzzled look back. "the Emos...?" I was then educated by her and older son Morgan that Emos are the new generation of EMOTIONAL people. EMOS. They blog and share their feelings on the internet. She felt they retreat early in the evenings to ponder the day and their feelings. I began to research this new word and new movement and found it to be old and rooted into the 1980's and punk-rock msic. It is characterized by melodic expre

'White Knight' Equine Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Pace

'White Knight' 18 x 27 inches Oil on Canvas Contact me to purchase: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2009 The Painting: This is one of those...where did it come from pieces. I absolutely love it when something just flows out and fits with balance, melody and color. This is in oil and it is applied thickly in layers, without the use of impasto. The Thought: Vacation continues and my time this morning is very short. I would love to have you try to capture a few moments today to just sit and relax your mind. Tame the squirrels running around or let them go outside to play for ten minutes. Keep your hands open in your lap to be receptive and open. Keep your eyes open but do not focus on any one thing. Around you there will be noise or movement inside the house or outside if you are out. What is around you? Can you feel or see the flutter of butterfly wings? Are there shadows dancing nearby from sunlight? What can you smell around you? What makes this

Miss Emma is a young budding artist that lives many states north of Texas. She has a new room with new colors and her mom is a fabulous decorator, Gretchen Martini . I am honored Miss Emma will have one of my painted ponies in her room...and in return I get some of her art work, which I will hang and treasure. This is an oil painting that emerged spiritually onto a prepared canvas. The canvas had two layers of blue and Indian yellow paint on it. I began sketching and painting several days ago... and my prayers were centered in Emma and painting for her room. The Thought :

Contact me to purchase: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2009 " Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God ." Philippians 4:6 The Painting : Taking off on a different road with this one. The horses are more defined for space; the action is in the movement of line and counter lines playing angles against each other. Colors are always vivid. The Thought : Planning ahead. Is it the Great Race? In the remodeling of this house we definitely should have had a better plan and kept a better schedule. Planning ahead I should have never lined up cable or internet until we were done. This morning I began to wake and lifted one eyelid and saw it was light in the room. Terry is on a different schedule and I knew he had to be up. My eyes flew open to the alarm clock and it was only 4 am. I realized then t

Black Mane Contemporary Art Horse Equine Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace SOLD FROM BLOG! THANKS> 16 x 20 inches Contact me to purchase: Laurie " Whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone; so that your Father in heaven may also forgive you. " Mark 11:25 Hard to get a grip and swallow on this one. If you have anything against ANYONE....forgive. How often in your mind does the image of someone pop in and immediately you associate a negative connotation? It happens for me. I am often indignant over a reaction or a happening and the association with that person clings to their image in the "file" in my brain. To forgive is suppose to be to forget...but do we? Do we forget? Obviously I do not or that file would be deleted in my memory. Then I have to reclaim lessons from my Grandmother and Mother. LOOK for the good in every one. Celebrate the best of what is inside that person. You may have to keep repeating that exercise, b

She has grown so much in the past week and the changes are evident. She is starting to pull that head in every direction and her neck is stronger. She played with us for several hours yesterday morning and then happily took her bottle and went to sleep. Babies draw comfort from soft voices, smiles and from nursing or taking a bottle. They think nothing of where they next meal will come from, or who is holding them next...they trust and they are comforted by us. Lauren and her Bampa. Where do you go for comfort? Do you give comfort to others? If something begins to stress you today, acknowledge it and give it

He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand." Psalm 40:1-2 Monday when Terry and were walking in the evening, the last quarter mile we walked through the playground at the school where soccer practice was going on. All over the play ground were end nets set up and tiny legs running after soccer balls. If there was one practice group there were at least 10 or more practice groups...we laughed watching them. As we walked we spotted a group of younger brothers and sisters behind the last goal net. There in the midst of them was a huge mud puddle. You could see the glee in their eyes as they were dancing around it, several poking into the mud with a stick. They shrieks and laughter

Much needed rain, but not exactly the ideal thought of a brilliant sunrise on Easter, where you go to early sunrise service and watch or celebrate the SON risen in the sky... So much is deeper than that and I am only just beginning to grasp it at my age. A sudden light bulb turned on in my head this weekend. Always, ALWAYS, I have shared a testimonial of when I heard God speak to me and the situation I was in and He most clearly said, "I will be there with you, you will not be alone. I will be walking next to you." For my entire life I have believed that He walks with me and He is with me always. I have written in this blog many t

Then it was a quick trip to Barnes and Noble for THE SHACK for mom to start reading hers. I can't say enough about this book, except GO BUY A COPY of it. Home we came. Jonathan wanted to make Chocolate Chip Cookies, so we used Aunt Stacey's favorite recipe and that was my downfall as I ate two cookies and they were good! Terry
