In process above is the painting for the wolves at the opening of this blog. This is the first time I have shared this painting and I did it almost 7 years ago. I love the spirit of the wolf and how it is keenly tied to nature for survival.  When I start paintings, I always ask the person I am painting for, if they have a favorite Bible verse or poem or saying or phrase... to put on the foundation of the canvas before I even begin.  If you want a special painting, please reach out to me and let's get it started!  This has been a heart filled week of prayers surrounding life changes in our family. You really do not 'get it' till it all begins to crumble on top of you. I find my prayers to God increasing trip...

It is so evident in paintings like this. The original painting contributing totally to the final painting and yet 180 degrees different. The wolves gained in strength as I resurfaced bold strokes of color with my knife and established a sense of movement in the air around them. Definitely would not want to meet these two in the woods at night.  What were you like as a child? W...
WOLF PACK 2007 ~ Abstract Wildlife by Laurie Justus Pace This painting is available at THE RARE GALLERY in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Contact them for exact pricing. They can ship it for Christmas! 24 x 36 inches, Gallery Wrap Canvas, Oil Good morning from the construction site. I cannot believe I am doing this at Christmas. Billie Bauman, The owner of the NY Gallery, Earth Works Art Gallery, is coming to visit over the Christmas break. I will have the potty in the guest bathroom the day before she arrives. I only hope I have the guest room ready. Here is where I am painting right now. The lighting is not the best, but we will get to it. This is the round wall in the living room that on the outdoors is beautiful stone and inside we scraped off layers of latex paint. The surface was not primed correctly or sanded, so Morgan is putting his skills to work on this one. Kyle, the contractor that was sent to us by God and Pam and Jud Kendall, is wonderful. He does landscaping and water feat...
CALL OF THE NIGHT ~ Wolves, Wildlife Art by Laurie Justus Pace 30 x 30 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contemporary Fine Art for your Home Saturday early morning finds me blogging before the household wakes up. Terry is still asleep for the next hour and then he will be up and heading to work. Today I will be preparing food for Tom's birthday celebration where we will gather and eat later. I made a pasta salad last night and probably today will make a brown rice and sausage dish. This painting is the third in my WOLVES of the NIGHT Series. Reminds me of my two dogs, Annie and Paddy. I used a wide paint brush on this one with the same colors I used in the first two pieces. Harrison bought the first painting and I had to wait to ship it to him until he made it to their second home in California. He should have received it yesterday. I am anxious to know his thoughts. Niki bought the second one and she saw it Tuesday before she headed to NY to the Dog Shows with her little Ti...
WATCHING TWO, Wolves, Wolf - Wild Life Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 36 inches Oil on Gallery Wrapped Canvas SOLD Sunday morning and SOOO much energy swimming in my tired body.... oops that is an oxymoron. Did I even spell that correctly this morning? This is a second painting in my wolf series. The first one is sold so I moved to another canvas and kept the same contrast of a black background. It's funny how each of them have their own personality as I paint them...guess that is normal. Phil and I went into Dallas yesterday to the Arboretum. I took some decent pics, the blooms were rare with the heat we have had...so I will stay up with it as the cooler days arrive. I took some people pictures that will serve for some pieces in the next few weeks. After we drug our depleted bodies back to the car (It was 97 degrees with 80 percent humidity) we ate dried fruit and drank tons of water. Stopped by my fav Italian restaurant and got take out. He leaves today for Ville...
NIGHT POWER 30 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day Not quite finished but I wanted to post it! I told you several mornings ago I had a vision of wolves just before I woke. I even addressed visions yesterday in my blog. The painting is ALMOST done. I know by posting this it will prompt a wolf painting from an artist that seems to follow and duplicate my subjects in a competitive manner...my husband has a bet on that at least! As I have always written, art should come from the spirit with in, not necessarily a "planned" event or competition. These animals have distinct personalities that almost frighten me when I am staring at it or working on it. I rarely RARELY paint wolves, but again a vision led this painting to be. In the vision it was three wolves, but in the painting it evolved to THREE EYES. That alone seem to be enough to quietly affect the viewer into slight hesitation to approach the composition. The fur seems full and textured that you might want to b...
