"The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit.” John 3:8 This painting began with light palette knife sweeps in rich colors of browns, deep reds, and golds. I knew right away it would be horses and I began turning and rotating the canvas to find the silhouettes of the horses in the paint.  They stood out strongly to my eye and I could feel the wind in their face.  Preparing for the Keller Public Art Show, I was blessed to visit The Dutch Art gallery in search of frames for several of my paintings. This frame was the first one my husband found

It is my birthday. The older you get, the birthdays fly by. My dad's was the day after mine and I lost him in 2012.  I miss my birthday partner in life.  My mom said she w

Lewis A powerful quote this Sunday Morning!   Be it living in darkness and unable to see for lack of light...God's light, or living in chaos that keeps you from looking up to be in God's light... you have the decision to make.  Living in light are living in the dark.  Living in chaos or living in peace.  Living a joyful life or living a life of constant conflict.   Let this morning be the first day of the rest of your life.

Fear won't keep you safe from being hurt.” ― Tiffanie DeBartolo, God-Shaped Hole Yesterday I wrote about Liddle, the Scottish runner from the Paris Olympics years ago...After the Olympics were over he followed his Christian background and retraced his parents journey becoming a missionary in China. At that time WW II was in full force and he ended up in a concentration camp in China with a large number of children from the school and teachers. Thankfully he had sent his wife and children home to Canada just before he was imprison

Larry out did himself with cooking. Stacey was the pastry chef with 7 or 8 pies...yum, some of those
Breaking into the Light Horse Abstract Oil Palette Knife Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 22" x 28" (55.9cm x 71.2cm) SOLD OFF DAILY PAINTERS! THANK YOU! Yes I painted more on this one. Sometimes after I finish one and it hangs here in the studio and then I pick it back up and paint some more. I always encourage students not to stop and give up. When something is not working, walk away to get a fresh perspective and then back to work. Makes me wonder if God thinks about us in that way sometimes. We tend to be rather self destructive most of the time. We often don't need others doing things to us, we do it to ourselves. God probably watches shaking his head as things develop in our life as we forget to go to Him in prayer. We are in need of His guidance and wisdom to make our decisions in life. So much knowledge is gained from our everyday experiences but not enough to always pull it together for the best choice. I laid in bed this morning thinking it would really be ni
GRAY HERD ~ Abstract Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 36 inches, Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contact me for pricing or commission work. Laurie Pace At two o'clock this morning I was laying in bed with my sore throat and stuffy nose thinking of blogging and came up with so much to say and now my brain is slow to bring thought to paper. Today is my oldest Brother's birthday. He was the one when we were kids playing with his army men, that he would dump some men out for me to play with in the dirt and usually always in an ant bed. I was four years younger and I am sure a pain in his back end. His birthday card has yet to be unearthed, but I have found the small interesting thing that Charlene found and sent to me. It is pretty cool, but since there is an outside chance he might be reading this, I can't say! hint: it is orange and peach in color. Happy Birthday Bill. I hope we can jam soon on our guitars. Have you ever heard the term two day underwear? We might
HEADSTRONG ~ Abstract Contemporary Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 22 x 28 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contact me for pricing or commission work. Laurie Pace Thursday, the days are escaping and I didn't pack one box yesterday. This painting I finished three days ago. I am trying to paint ahead because it will be difficult once we get further into this weekend. I would haul paints to my mom's temporarily and work, but decided I needed to not mess up her house...just paint less and pray more that God will provide. Today will be my last day with the Justin Art Students. I really have not forewarned them because I did not know until our buyer finally made up their mind about so many last minute changes. That was not a comfortable time for us. In art I will allow them to paint a painting for Christmas for their parents in acrylic. I will be digging out canvas already packed! Calmness is the word today I will concentrate on, especially during this season. Though
CHARGING ~ ABSTRACT HORSE OIL PAINTING by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 36 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contemporary Art for the Home SOLD Birthday Week continues! Morgan was over yesterday when I finished this energy filled painting! Contrast and color fill my life and my paintings and the glory goes to God! With it being birthday week I often reflect over the past years of life that have been chapters of journeys all bound together. Moments of joy and pain rolled together with laughter and tears. The experiences of the lives we live are woven into the lives of those around us. Sometimes relationships are easy and other times they take tremendous work. You must be ready to forgive in your own life or you will never experience peace and be able to enjoy the future events in your life. The weight of confusion and concern that often overtakes with us with anger, can be left behind when you forgive and move on in God's light and love. Move on this week. Get back into His light.
RACE FOR HOME ~ Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 30 x 30 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contemporary Art for the Home Sunday dawns with new times and hours. The skies still are inky black outside and it feels like seven a.m. but it is truly six a.m. I am struggling to finish all of my blogging because I want to paint the sunrise this morning! This painting was completed with a wide brush and lots of contemporary color as I tried to capture the horses neck to neck racing for the stable. Yesterday Stacey and I hit shopping at six and then off to Dallas to house hunt and have a girl day of hair cuts and facials. Terry drove in and we retraced our steps through several houses and had dinner at Sweet Temptations. (Yes Tom, we ate again...he mentioned to me via phone I was eating all the time according to my blog!) We returned home through the massive mess at the Texas Motor Speedway to our waiting pups. They were happy to see us after a long day away. Do you ever feel pres
