This is the granddaughter of one of my dearest friends.  This little girl is the spitting image of her beautiful grandmother.  This was a crazy day photo with her wearing all her favorite colors and the net layered colorful skirt that grandmother brought to her!   Do you remember in your lifetime, being surprised by a gift from a family member that made you feel special?  I do... with several memories and my favorite was a soft yellow sweater at age 3 with tiny rosebuds near the neckline.  We used to be able to smile and greet people with a warm hello. Cannot do that these days. Covid Masks. How about if we used sign language... with our sparkling eyes and the sweet uplifted hand like a salute with a wave?    ...

I did up four sketches for the piece and he chose the three horses drinking. You can see how I began the piece with a mid dark blue and then began sketching the horses in place.
