This is how it begins.   3 ft by 4 ft is the size of the canvas. I literally do not know what I will see in this as I progress. IT IS ABOUT BEING BRAVE There is no rhyme or reason to placement of colors and I usually select random colors. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not...but you learn to flow with the mistakes along the way. Painted in my Golden Pond Studio in 2010, I am revisiting the heat wave months of Texas right now.  The horses are painted with a pulled palette knife. I love giving each horse their own contemporary look with different colors, so none of the them look the same. I believe this was a commissioned painting but not for sure. " (William Blake) Th e Pumpkins began to bloom in the studio and it is now time for color.  Working in Acrylic, which is not the medium of choice for me for still life painting, I plunged ahead with student Lisa eagerly jumping into the challenge. Both of the above are my pieces. Remember last week, we began with just values using black and white. Now it is time to begin applying color.  I found it easier with the acrylics to do it layers letting some bleed through from below and you can watch as some change through the process.
