Within decades we must close our eyes again. Isn’t it a noble, an enlightened way of spending our brief time in the sun, to work at understanding the universe and how we have come to wake up in it? This is how I answer when I am asked—as I am surprisingly often—why I bother to get up in the mornings.” ― Richard Dawkins I write of color tonight as the world around us is filled with color...both silent color and high bright noisy color. Reading the quote I found that I am in agreement on finding the beauty all throughout the day and night.  The painting above has the high intensity colors contrasting beautifully

The Call of the Wild, Horse Painting with Texas Artist Laurie Pace. Do you Pray Before Doing Things?

One larger painting went to Australia, that was similar.  It begins with prayer always for me not to be in the way of the spirit moving my touch as I paint on that canvas.   I had the canvas flat on the table and a brush in hand... not a knife. I began applying paints and was not worried if they ran or overlapped.  No preconception of what would be where. (You saw this on yesterday's painting I shared, the bottom layers of acrylic paint.)  Usually you will find me turning the canvas on

This gorgeous horse painting was done in 2010, probably in March.  We moved to the lake in April and I did not paint for about four weeks! Strong in color, deep with values, and full of energy! What is unusual, it is painted with a brush and not a palette knife! Fun looking back in time!  “Never lose hope. Storms make people stronger and never last forever.” ― Roy T. Bennett, The Light in the Heart   Storms  The phone starts by giving me a loud warning "siren" and I know in Texas it means storms are moving in. If we are not home, we take the nearest route to get there. Living in the Dallas Ft Worth area, our population is a mixture of people and most of them are not from Texas.  Driving can present a problem in normal weather, and if you throw in a super cell of

Fleeting Moment in Time... figurative painting by Texas artist Laurie Pace

I am thinking the year I painted this was 2004 and probably fall. I really enjoyed the journey and the intended message with rose in hand was the thoughts we cannot read. Perhaps if her gaze was part of the painting, you might see wonderment or joy....OR you might see tears and heartbreak.  What ever it was... it is fleeting moments never to be locked in time, but we all manage to lock all these fleeting moments into feelings that linger in our minds and hearts.  “ Life is made up of a collection of moments that are not ours to keep. The pain we encounter throughout our days spent on this earth comes from the illusion that some moments can be held onto. Clinging to people and experiences that were never ours in the first place is what causes us to miss out on th

Is it

At the Ocean Painting by Laurie Pace, The Essential Water and the Essential Faith

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2023 At The Ocean SOLD Oils on Canvas painted in 2011 Golden Pond Studio  by Laurie Pace   Shop other Available Artwork.  Sign up for my quarterly newsletter and painting sales. I love any type of water...  rain, rivers, ponds, lakes, the ocean... even sitting by a waterfall.  When we lived at the lake, my studio was about twenty feet across the back of the house overlooking both a 5 acre catfish pond and the main lake was to my left where I watched the sunset every evening. It was heavenly!! The negative part was constant water moccasins and copperheads. You had to be on watch where ever you stepped!  We all know the Bible is rich with powerful symbolism. Especially those snakes.  The one symbol that is important to me personally, is water. It represents faith, salvation, and provision, reminding me of its importance in both our physical and spiritual existence. Comparatively, water is crucial for sust
