Someday, and I hope it never comes, there may be a time when the Western hills are empty again and the land will go back to wilderness and the old, hard ways. Enemies may come into our country and times will have changed, but then the boys will come down from the old high hills and belt on their guns again. They can do it if th...

Can you tell?      ©Laurie Pace    Graphics One Design 1998-2011 Contact me for your own commissioned painting or to purchase this piece: Laurie   Looking Out the Window Each of us has inside something we are looking for or something we think we are missing in life. It is that 'object' or 'event' that if it just was resolved or if it just happened we could be happy.  We wait and wait on that to come to us...watching out the window for it to 'arrive'. This second week in advent would be the perfect time to turn away from that window of desire.  Talk to Him about it. Let Him know what is in your heart and mind and then let it go. As you pass through this day begin new ways of respond...

Progress Land of the Longhorns, Longhorn Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Progression Texas Land of the Longhorns Preparing the way for this painting seems timely with preparation of Advent for the birth of Jesus. This is the second, third and fourth layer of oils on top of the beginning acrylic layer of Indian yellows.  Wait as it develops and you will watch the building of layers over time creating a unique painting unlike any other in my Longhorn Series. Each is different with layerings and colors. 35 x 53 inches Oil on Canvas   ©Laurie Pace    Graphics One Design 1998-2011   Contact me for your own commissioned painting: Laurie      Anticipation - Preparing the Heart In this second week of advent we begin to really anticipate the coming of the Christ Child. No matter what messes remain in our lives, it is time to look above to Him to be set free. If you still remain head down concentrating on things in the worldly existence, this week it is time to lift your face to God's light. I...

Last night Terry and I went to visit close friends to help put up their ten foot Christmas tree. The Mrs. of the family had surgery recently and is still couch bound. The Mr. was not looking forward to the job as it had never in all their years of marriage fallen to him to decorate the tree. I was petrified I would put something in the wrong place as Mr. brought out a huge container about four feet in length and two feet wide and three feet tall.  He popped open the lid and behold inside was a ...

'Big Tex' SOLD 24 x 36  Oil on Canvas Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie   © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2009 The Painting:   In celebration of the opening of the Great State Fair of Texas, I painted this longhorn to mark this day.  Yes this is really the second day it is open, but I hit the weekend at least.  For some reason the paint is thicker and adding in some green really popped the beauty of this longhorn right out. The Thought:   I was reading a book yesterday when sitting at the orthodontist office with our daughter.  It was talking about a grandmother's lustrous pearls.  The young grandchild knew her grandmother was very poor and could not own such a luxury as real pearls.  The mother pulled her daughter into her lap and explained that the grandmother always talked about her "pearls".  Over the years the grandmother took those special moments, those "pearls" and strung t...
