A Painting a Day
Okay, I am moving slow and typing even slower! More about that in a minute. This is a painting I finished on Sunday. I will be painting some smaller pieces this week and some more midsize...but this was a celebration of life and color. TODAY as I paint I WILL CELEBRATE LIFE and GIVE PRAISE FOR IT!!!
Yesterday was a day and a day and a half rolled into one. I went for lessons on the MAC and have a whole bunch of new stuff to learn! YEAH. Stopped at Starbucks for Terry to get an coffee thing and I saw Paul McCartney's new CD...had to have it and I LOVE IT! My new theme song is "I DON'T WANT TO COME DOWN". You would have to hear it to understand it, but like hiding up in a tree and no one can see you and then someone spots you and says you have to do something and then a hundred others appear and they are all wanting something and you cry out I don't want to come down!....My husband chose the song GRATITUDE... and it made me smile...it was a love song and he was giving me a huge compliment!
We were busy packing paintings and didn't leave the house until six last night for FEDEX and figured Traffic going in should not be too bad for the 30 miles trip into town. Just trying to get on HWY 114 was not fun and as always I stay in a panic on that hwy with the massive amts of ROCK TRUCKS and bad drivers. There is a hill bridge that leads up and then drops off rapidly at a stop light intersection and you have to be careful mounting that hill to watch the light and if traffic is backed up. Well we were at the light, about three or four back from the front. Terry moved forward to allow to cars behind us access to the turn lane. I was busy on the phone calling our Credit Card company canceling the card because someone got a hold of the number on the internet and was having a hay day buying thousands of dollars of things....and all of a sudden we were hit from behind with an UNBELIEVABLE force knocking me forward, phone flying, papers flying, Terry is braced on the steering wheel jerking forward yelling OH SH>>>>>>> and then we are hit a second time. I turned to look at him, the second force twice what the first one was as we are hit and asked, "Is it going to stop...are we going to die?" and we are hit a third time popping us forward like a croquet ball into the car several feet in front of us. Our GERMAN ENGINEERED PASSAT saved our lives and pretty well stopped a line of four cars, a big truck carrying equipment and a HUGE OVERLOADED ROCK TRUCK that came over the top of the hill going 65 mph plowing into a Land Rover and then into another huge HUGE truck carrying heavy equipment...into another SUV, then a Van, then a RODEO which was piled up in the air because our PASSAT took the brunt and DID NOT GIVE for the first two smacks, forcing that RODEO up in the air almost flipping it on to us. The third hit propelled us off the ground and forward into the car in front of us and that one bounced into the car in front of him. Remember this all took place on a STEEP STEEP hill. It will be a LONG LONG time before this softens in our memory. Ambulances and Careflight removed most of the injured. Our Daughter took us to the hospital and then delivered our Fedex shipping to FEDEX. My poor car... it is crunched front and back. I am home, but have whip lash back and front and then side to side as I turned my head toward my husband between the 2nd and 3rd impact....Upper back is bad, lower back sore and I have seat belt burn and cuts on my collar bone. Terry injured both shoulders trying to brace himself on the stirring wheel and his neck whipped. His lower back is hurt and his ankle from bracing on the brake. Yes today is celebration of life, but a slow celebration.
Remember to drive carefully.
Grace,
Laurie

God had (and has) His mighty arms wrapped around you and your husband.
Take care, I look forward to talking to you.

I do enjoy your colourful horses. My father used to break in horses, both to the harness and the saddle - & he still ploughs (plows) with draught (draft) horses! :-)
