A Painting a Day



Good morning from the studio. I have been up painting for three hours now! My stomach is growling so I decided it was time to take a break...if it lets up raining I will walk the dogs, if not, I put leashes on them one at a time and do circles inside the house...the other follows along...they have fun and at least I get some exercise.

This painting is using the impasto mixed into the oil paint creating an even thicker pull with the paint leaving defined edges through out the composition. The colors are bright and vivid.

I have been so busy this year I haven't caught up and really not ready to jump into 2007. By this time I normally have all my files pulled and ready for the CPA except for the last day or so...but with New Years eve on a Sunday, my year stops then and I have paintings ending on eBay this weekend, so I have to wait. Need to go buy the macho big container I have to store all the receipts in to keep abreast of that seven year thing.

Looking back on 2006 it found changes in my life that created growth and they say that is good. I believe firmly in the light that burns in each of us and the need for us to allow that light out into the world. I am thankful for much more than I could ever put into words, for not just my family and friends but opportunities that have bloomed in my life.

God is good, all the time God is good.

We lost another dear family member this week. She has celebrated her 'continuation' day and is now with her mom and dad and her other cousins.  She leaves behind a family that will always celebrate her gentleness.  My aunt was special to all of us. She loved each of us dearly for who we were and was always ready with a hug or a 'good job'.    My memories are of breakfast pastries smeared with butter on top. It was not like they were not sweet enough as they were, but at her small kitch...

By definition:   Space is an element of art; space refers to distances or areas around, between or within components of a piece. Space can be positive (white or light) or negative (black or dark), open or closed, shallow or deep and two-dimensional or three-dimensional. Sometimes space isn't actually within a piece, but the illusion of it is. With little ones we always have donut day when I teach space...but we cannot do that over the internet.  So I took up my pencil and looked around the studio. I spotted first one of my stools in the studio... so I quickly shaded in the space around it.  Then the coffee cup holding my hot tea.... and then just a jack that was sitting on the table.
