Think to a time in life that you were so hurt and devastated and emotionally drained. What did you do?  If you were five years old and something happened in your life at that time that made you afraid, hurt and crying, what did you do back then?

Most of us would have run to our mother or our father.  They were our protectors in life. They could fix anything in our little world and make it better.

I struggle in today's world with hurt, devastation and emotionally battles in several areas.  I buck up and try to be strong.  I make my lists.  I pray.  I work harder and harder.  It does not help.  I am totally in the wrong direction or I would not still be dealing with the issues.

The Father wants us in His arms.  He is our protector. Only He can fix those things in our lives.  We have to have faith and total belief that He will, just like we did at age five with our parents back then.  When you cry, cry out to Jesus.  When you are hurting reach out to God for His protection and healing. When you are emotionally spent, rest in His arms and allow the Holy Spirit to rejuvenate your being.

Seeking answers and solutions on our own only sends us down another rabbit hole.  The answers are right here, we just cannot see them because of our blinding pain.  I learned a valuable lesson this past month and I have stayed the path because of my trust and faith in God.  I choose what to become emotionally entangled with.  If something pops up I always react and then then breathe and recenter myself and let Him take it on.  I may have to pull myself back several times, but it does work.

I will pray for you this day for the battles you are engaged in. May you find the peace the He offers and walk away from the battle. It is not yours to fight alone.  He is your protector... He will lead the way around the danger and keep you safe.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.”- Hebrews 12:1

Mixed Media Collage Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Justus Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 Horse Collage Fall 2013  12 x 18 inches Mixed Media on Canvas.  This was an intentional paint to imitate one of the 100 ponies I did in 2012. That poor little 8 x 10 pony was loved by a company to do very large prints and it was not here for me to even use to scan... so I created something with the same heart, a kindred spirit. The underlays are pages from a western book and then torn papers of different varieties were added along with stains of paint and purposeful areas of paint.  This would not be a painting I would do today, but the goal was to capture the spirit of the first painting. Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Website   Thinking ahead to the Thanksgiving celebration next week, I remembered back to those previous dinners that I cooked, served, ate quickly, and cleaned up.  This is how I felt.  It is probably strange...even for me but I had the best fun sketching it out and painting it. We lost another dear family member this week. She has celebrated her 'continuation' day and is now with her mom and dad and her other cousins.  She leaves behind a family that will always celebrate her gentleness.  My aunt was special to all of us. She loved each of us dearly for who we were and was always ready with a hug or a 'good job'.    My memories are of breakfast pastries smeared with butter on top. It was not like they were not sweet enough as they were, but at her small kitch...

My life has the tendency to fall apart when I'm awake, you know?” Ernest Hemingway  I really enjoyed painting this scene. It was restful to me as the artist  and loved by our friends.  Sunday is the day of rest. I smiled when I found this in archives and thought it perfect for this day.  If you live in Texas you know that we still have 'rules' about not selling liquor before noon.  If you live in Texas and are in your late thirties and up, you might even remember Blue Laws.   Stores were simply NOT open...
