© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2024 After the Afternoon Rains Oil on Canvas  SOLD   by Laurie Pace   My heart is breaking for all that were impacted by the hurricane.  Usually after regular rain, the sun comes out and there is still moisture in the air and everything seems to glow and glisten.  When I saw the shots of Asheville NC and the Artist's Studios under mud and water to the roofs ... my artist heart cannot even imagine.  Many of us do not know the physical devastation of events like this. Living in Texas and at one time about an hour or so from the coast in Nacogdoches for 18 years, we weathered many storms but nothing with devastation that hit Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina.  We have friends in Tennessee but I have not heard if they were affected.  It would be awesome if Artists across the United States could come together and do what they did for Hawaii, o...

It was a commission for one of my collectors that already has several pieces.  Tiny Cactus Blooms.   This is almost like Christmas, isn't it?  I had much fun with this one. I need to get them to send me a hanging photo from their house. Looking back some of these look like green olives! 😜 The red and green are of course complimentary colors. the blue and orange are complimentary colors.  There is some purple woven in and some white.  I love working in color combinations! We have family and friends in this area. This painting was a more impressionistic piece than the Girl on Piano pieces from 2008-2010.  It is the tilt of the head and the precious lift of the hand with the outer small finger delicately angled. Not quite old enough to be using pedals, her feet are crossed below the bench. Back in the day of my lessons and playing in the late fifties and early sixties, young girls wore dresses. I miss those days. I still prefer dresses over pants today... even my studio jeans.  One of my modern girl on Piano pieces.... I love her dearly for her strength and commitment to her family. She shared once with me that water gave her energy and peace, especially the ocean. HAHA... not. New Bible Study with food included!!!!  I might mention a large yogurt covered pretzel, and half of a taco rolled with egg inside. (I do not eat eggs... still it was hopeless. Lets change the subject.) The Gathering Run Horse Painting is a favorite with that LUSH LUSH orange and yellow in the center left and right, with pulls that resemble highways on a map.   Can you see the horses?  I think we have four in here.  mmm... maybe five here.  Just spotted another one.   Wish I knew or remembered!  Do you like these?  Any idea why we worry so much?
