In process above is the painting for the wolves at the opening of this blog. This is the first time I have shared this painting and I did it almost 7 years ago. I love the spirit of the wolf and how it is keenly tied to nature for survival.  When I start paintings, I always ask the person I am painting for, if they have a favorite Bible verse or poem or saying or phrase... to put on the foundation of the canvas before I even begin.

If you want a special painting, please reach out to me and let's get it started!

This has been a heart filled week of prayers surrounding life changes in our family. You really do not 'get it' till it all begins to crumble on top of you. I find my prayers to God increasing triple fold these days and my constant head conversations with him as well.

In the olden days, families took care of families. When Grandmother and Grandfather could not farm anymore, or had health problems and one passed away, the remaining one always ended up at one of the adult children's homes. I know my grandmother stayed with us six months out of the year and with my other cousin's family six months out of the year. She loved riding the train back and forth across the United States. Having several generations living together was beneficial to EVERYONE there.

Why is it so different today? Today it is all about nursing care, assisted living, Home Health Care... but what about family care? Hard to think about it.  I just turned seventy a few months ago. I resent that Covid has stolen three years of the best time in our retirement to travel and do things. Two of my brothers stayed living blocks away from my Mom and Dad. I was the wanderer.  BUT...my parents were the first wanderers moving over 600 miles from their families and roots when I was four years old. I have never strayed far for long. I did do about 9 months in Ft Thomas KY... from the Dallas area.  I moved back to Texas pretty quick.  I have lived in quite a few Texas cities but Ft Thomas was the only out of state as an adult.

I wish it was easier to have a conversation here. I would love to know what your grandparents or parents did as they got older.  The other conversation would be over health care and hospitals. We have found in recent years, to be careful and think if you really need to go to the hospital. First of all DNR's are really not worth the paper they are written on. (no Paramedic or healthcare person wants to be sued if you die.)  Secondly, they all are professional health care workers and will do everything in their power to get you better... using everything that can diagnostically be used, sometimes over and over and you leave the hospital with bills over several hundred thousands of dollars.  No one wants to be alone as they age... and lots of money is being made by all the needs seniors have today.

A friend on FB posted something from their priest... and it was truly passionate about how your mom and dad gave up much for you to have love and care, sick, well or just existing. Why would you not return it to them?

A Bit of Wonder Contemporary Horse Oil Daily Painting Art by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 30 x 2 inches of thick buttery oils! Contact me to purchase: Laurie "This is the day that the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it". Psalm 118:24 It was a day of celebration yesterday as Lauren Gracen was born. Stacey began her labor around nine in the morning and was ready to push by 12:15, but they held her off while getting things set up. Took four good contractions with multiple pushes and the baby was there! All grandparents accounted for to count the toes and fingers! My admiration is for my daughter and her bravery and calmness despite the tension and newness of what she faced. I was honored to be there as the baby was delivered seeing my granddaughter push out into the light and take her first breathe... and then cry... and that she did. Terry was able to participate and he and Larry helped with pushing and getting Stacey upright for the process and then Terry was hon...

Arrival...Refrigerator?

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2024 Arrival Oil on Canvas  SOLD   by Laurie Pace   Proverbs 16:3 "Commit to the Lord whtever you do, and he will establish your plans."   Worrisome times laced with prayers.   The world seems like a scary place lately. Praying for everyone affected by the last two hurricanes.  My adventures today were the result of a dead refrigerator. I have loved my Kitchen Aid refrigerator very much. The first one in the 'French Kitchen' look died at 13 months. Hubby wanted the same refrigerator. Well this one made it four years and a few months. I cannot believe appliances are not made to last longer...but wait, is that because they make more money if we have to replace it in 4-5 years?  You replace your mattress at least every 7 years... and your washer dryer, you might get 7 years out of those... The stoves seem to make it closer to 10 years. We are Lowe's customers, and Robert ...
