Sometimes an older painting arrives at exactly the right moment. You can read this and click through to see the final painting. 

This morning I rediscovered Blue Moon, one of my favorite wolf paintings, along with every process photograph from its creation. Looking through those images reminded me that every painting begins with uncertainty and grows one layer at a time.

That couldn't have come at a better moment.

A fresh canvas is waiting in my studio today, and perhaps that's the lesson we all need from time to time—to trust the process, begin anyway, and discover where the journey leads.

Stacey began her labor around nine in the morning and was ready to push by 12:15, but they held her off while getting things set up. Took four good contractions with multiple pushes and the baby was there! All grandparents accounted for to count the toes and fingers! My admiration is for my daughter and her bravery and calmness despite the tension and newness of what she faced. I was honored to be there as the baby was delivered seeing my granddaughter push out into the light and take her first breathe... and then cry... and that she did. Gathering... The Good People are Gathering. Figurative Palette Knife Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace
