The Thought:   We went out to dinner on  Friday night with Paul and Vicky.  ( Paul is the local Sheriff and one of our oldest and dearest friends from junior high school.)   We met them at the nearby Tall Tree Marina Restaurant and had a fabulous meal. The Thought:    It was a long day yesterday. A long six hours of the day at least.  Terry and I laid out a full palette of grass in part of the back yard.  It is San Augustine Grass and here in Texas you buy it in bulk amounts on palettes of wood.   We could have done this in two hours, but he was soaking each square piece of grass in a mixture of root stimulator and water before we put it down.  We wore out and finally the last third we just placed on the ground and watered it really well.  I keep promising pictures, but they have to wait until I am through with the commission I have to do and maybe the wedding the first part of July.  Even bei...

They caught me unexpectedly as I did not submit work to them, they phoned me and asked for artwork and then allowed me extra time to finish a gorgeous piece for the show. The Thought:  Another day of collisions... The wind yesterday was about 25-30 knots this morning and I was not wanting to go out and as we were putting up the sails I suggested Terry take the boat out alone.   This was not one of my best suggestions as I watched him struggle turning it around in the cove with the flaky winds churning three different directions.  The first time the boat rammed into a tree with the mast. That was not good on his body as he threw himself trying to hold onto it and messed up his leg trapping it between the boat rudders (Darn those rudders) and the shore.  He continued oblivious of the pain he was in and he struggled on board trying to row out with out me helping.  He yelled up, "I can't do this alone."...

The Thought:   The minister at church yesterday preached about the trees.  We definitely live in the trees where we are.  He described being on his farm in Commerce Texas, just west of Mt Vernon and a bit north, and he was watching a stunning sunset.  He text one of his friends here in Mt Vernon and said, can you see what I see, God in His Glory?   The answer was, 'Hard to see the sunset when you are surrounded by trees.' He knew then he had to preach on that one...

The Thought:  Purple Barns.  We saw two purple barns on the way back from Bonham yesterday.  We drove one route up to Bonham through Commerce and Bailey but there as so much road construction we came home through Paris and Bogata.  Made much better time that way (altho mileage was longer) the roads were wonderful and very little traffic. On the way home is when I spotted the purple barns.  I truly have never seen anyone paint a barn purple before... a dark lavender purple, like the sky is at night. The Thought: I think it must have rained for 48 hours.  The pond is full, the trees are green and it is good to be home.   My thoughts revolve around several things this morning and one is praying for a friend.  We have very similar prayer needs and we both believe we clearly know what we need in our situations to fix them.  But do we?  From our human viewpoint, we see what would clearly be the answer, but so far it is not happening for either of our situations.  It is so obvious that there is nothing else that could possibly happen to resolve the situation, except our concept of "the answer".    Sometimes this sets up an "uh oh" for me as it means my way is not His way and His way is not the easiest way all the time for me....

I get tired thinking about it and I have had some sleep last night. More travel in the next few days as well... What did I learn yesterday? That another family must have died in a wreck on I30 traveling east into Dallas. There were five new white crosses with names and flowers on the right side of the road going into Sulphur Springs.   Terry and I prayed together as we saw the new crosses and I could only read one name as we whizzed by at 65...it was a little boys name on the cross.  This accident wiped out an entire family. The Thought: Last night Paddy was nose to the window under the closed blind around 7:30 pm.  I was busy at the kitchen table signing 300 posters for the Appaloosa Horse Show in Jackson Mississippi opening in about 10 days.... and heard him growling. I walked around the table gently nudging him away from the window as I flipped up one of the blinds to peak outside.   The sun was setting on the lake making it a silver shimmer of beauty reflecting the gold rays of late day.  Next to the house between us and the lake was a herd of deer just grazing away and wagging their little tails.  No wonder the dog was going ...

The Thought:   My thoughts are on disappointments this morning as this is something that touched my life recently.   Plans never seem to flow as we plan them, only as God wants them to go.  Although I do believe the humans in our lives affect some of that flow with their choices. Often those choices affect us. When the disappointment hit me, it was after something was promised that was not delivered. The Thought:  God Made Little Green Frogs In Coffee Cups That is a true statement. God did make little green frogs in coffee cups.   When I was cleaning off the kitchen counter and picking up a coffee cup to put in the dishwasher, low and behold there was this little green frog.  This cup had not been outside...only on the counter by the kitchen sink. Where did the frog come from? I know where the frog ended up! Those little unplanned things in life are humorous.  God definitely has a sense of humor.  If you think of what is humorous ( Terry loves the Three Stooges), it is usually something unexpected, incongruous and preposterous.  As a child many of us laughed at clowns, learning from an early age ...
