The Painting: Finished from the easel stand point but probably 14-21 days to cure enough to ship! Gives me time to do the collector book.
The Thought:
Terry and I traveled to Bonham yesterday to visit my dad. Kirk, Leslie and Mom met us there for a special lunch with Dad and then back for ping pong.
I told Vicky last night when we visited on the phone that I was waiting for something to knock me upside the head. Things are so good here. Life is still everything they described as wonderful. She told me she was that way for two straight years after they retired, waiting for the other shoe to drop... and it has now been 8 years for them here and it is still the best place they have ever lived and that other shoe has never dropped.
Vicky is a loving giving soul. She is part of the Stephens Ministry at our church. I believe her background in police work gives her the added perspective needed to connect with folks requiring support through prayer and simple listening. That is an important word, Listening.
Listening is the key to all relationships. Steering away from the I's is always best. Listening and acknowledging the fact that you are listening is the most important part of communication. Teachers learn early to repeat back, "I hear that you feel sad today because....." or "I understand you are saying....." and always keeping eye contact and a sincere gaze. Love and listening, peppered with a bit of a hug goes a long way. That is for parent to child, spouse to spouse, friend to friend... it works 100 percent of the time guaranteed.
