'Shawne's Casa Blanca Lily' Flower Oil Painting by Laurie Pace

'Casa Blanca Lily' 18 x 27 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD Contact me for Commission Work: Laurie ©Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2005 " I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. " John 13:34 The Painting : This painting was a commission piece by the wife of the Swiss Ambassador to Berlin. She had bought several pieces of artwork from me and from my son Morgan, including a gorgeous Texas Flag he painted. She is a Texan transplanted to Europe and she was missing her roots! The Thought : Care thoughts are roaming around in my head. On Tuesday, Terry and I drove 135 miles round trip to take our dogs back to their original vet in Ponder, Texas. Dr Phil Henderson owns the Ponder Vet Clinic and he is absolutely the best in Texas. We had used a Dallas vet the past year living here in the city, but I struggled with all the extra meds they wanted my dogs on. The women at the clini...

'Iris' Abstract Flower Watercolor Painting by Laurie Pace

'Iris' 24 x 36 Watercolor on Canvas SOLD Contact me for Commission Work: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2009 " For the LORD your God is bringing you into a good land—a land with streams and pools of water, with springs flowing in the valley s and hill s; " Deuteronomy 8:7 The Picture : This is a watercolor on big watercolor canvas. I did it during a class demonstration on watercolor several years ago. The Thought : I was reading Christian Fiction recently and part of one of the character's flaws was the 'gift' of manic depression. The Lord often has a serious sense of humor on these gifts. But truly it is one if you can embrace it. In every gift or challenge there is something there for us to receive and then give back to others. The character in the book referred to the 'handling' of the mood swings by comparing it to hills and valleys. Our life journey always has hills and valleys. That is a given we can agree o...

"Summer Garden" Flower Garden Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace

'Summer Garden' 15 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD Contact me for Commission work: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2006 "Let the fig tree teach you a lesson. When its branches become green and tender and it starts putting out leaves, you know that summer is near. In the same way, when you see all these things, you will know that the time is near, ready to begin. Remember that all these things will happen before the people now living have all died Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. " Matthew 24:32-35 The Painting: This is an archived painting but after viewing it, I may be inspired to do a "this year" painting with the same color palette. The Thought : The verse was on Bible Verse this morning and it gave me pause to think. I always knew eventually the earth would pass away...but heaven too? From all my reading and studies I know there is no "set" time for the second coming of Christ. There se...

"Emma's Light" Horse Equine Oil Painting by Laurie Pace

'Emma's Light' 18 x 24 inches Oil on Canvas Commissioned SOLD Contact me for your very own painted pony: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2009 "O Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, our ancestors, keep forever such purposes and thoughts in the hearts of your people, and direct their hearts toward you ." 1 Chronicles 29:18 The Painting: It is for Miss Emma! Miss Emma is a young budding artist that lives many states north of Texas. She has a new room with new colors and her mom is a fabulous decorator, Gretchen Martini . I am honored Miss Emma will have one of my painted ponies in her room...and in return I get some of her art work, which I will hang and treasure. This is an oil painting that emerged spiritually onto a prepared canvas. The canvas had two layers of blue and Indian yellow paint on it. I began sketching and painting several days ago... and my prayers were centered in Emma and painting for her room. The Thought : ...

"Beauty" Horse Equine Art Oil Painting by Laurie Pace

"No. 239 Beauty" 24 x 24 inches Oil on Canvas Contact me to Purchase: Laurie SOLD OFF THE BLOG! THANK YOU! ©Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2009 " Finally, all of you, have unity of spirit, sympathy, love for one another, a tender heart, and a humble mind. " 1 Peter 3:8 The Painting : Different strokes for different folks. It was a laid back two day period working on this light impressionistic piece. This is a 24 x 24 inch canvas and I used Holbein Duo Oils in multiple layers. Most of the area is in wide brush, but parts are in a 1/4 inch brush. The Thought : I was reading in 1 Peter when I came across this verse. Peter is sharing what is important for us in our lives, but taking it a step further is to realize what God has for us. This verse is a gentle verse speaking of open love. Our God is this and more. Our God is an awesome God. God is tough and tender. Brings back thoughts of that child rearing book from the seventies "Tough Love...

"Busy Nation Under God" Commissioned Painting in tune with the Flag Art of Peter Max 16 x 20 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD For contemporary art contact me: Laurie © Laurie Pace Graphics One Design 2006 " It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery ." Galatians 5:1 The Painting : Done in 2006 when Morgan was doing his Flag Series a collector asked for a "Peter Max" type flag and this piece was created. Morgan does 99 percent of the flags here. They are collected around the world. His most sought after had the pledge of allegiance on them. The Thought: It is always hard on the blog to pin point the exact days. This is read by many of you on Saturday if you come directly to the blog. For others it is mailed out to be received for Sunday. So I chose to post the flag knowing that the majority of you would get this flag on the fourth of July, Saturday... for those ge...

"Party of Seven" Painted Pony Pulls Horse Painting by Laurie Pace

"Party of Seven" 18 x 27 inches Acrylic on Canvas SOLD! Thank you. Contact me to purchase: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2009 “ I am acting with great boldness toward you; I have great pride in you; I am filled with comfort. In all our affliction, I am overflowing with Joy ." 2 Corinthians 7:4 The Painting: Golden Acrylics and Liquitex Acrylics were on the palette as I began this pull. 97 percent of my pulls are in Oil, so an acrylic one is rare. The paint does not respond in the same manner, but I am able to double up on my layers and the dimensional aspect of the subject. The Thought : I've got the Joy Joy Joy Joy down in my heart....that is a line from a song I sang with my children as they were growing up. What is joy to you? For my youngest son, joy should be every day having fun and living life. To my oldest son, joy is his buddies and time with that World Warfare game. To my daughter, joy seems to be getting everything done. Findi...

"Sunset Sail" Contemporary Sailboat Seascape Oil Painting by Laurie Pace

'Wind at Sunset' 18 x 27 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD Contact me for your own sailboat commission: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2006 "No one whose hope is in you, will ever be put to shame, but they will be put to shame who are treacherous without excuse ." Psalm 25:3 The Painting: An oldie from 2006. Fresh strokes of heavy oils created the movement of light in the sky casting the vivid brightness onto the water. Sky and water maintain the colors and the fluidity of the water appears to take over the clouds in the sky, all running closely together. The Thought: When you are anticipating something, are you waiting on God to do it His way or your way? I can answer that one...my way. I work really hard making things happen...not good huh? Yeah, I know, I have found out the hard way. Research tells me the Hebrew work 'qavah' means to bind together, look patiently, to wait or hope eagerly. The second close word in Hebrew is ...

"Wild Morning" Equine Horse Art Painting by Laurie Pace

'Wild Morning' 18 x 27 inches Acrylic on Canvas Contact me to purchase: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2009 " Rise in the presence of the aged, show respect for the elderly, and revere your God. I am the Lord. " Leviticus 19:32 The Painting : Acrylic Overlays in about seven layers. Dense thick paint and high glass varnish combine to finish off this unique composition. The Thought: We were driving down Forest Lane on our way home from Whole Foods and I saw the sign outside the Unity Church, "HAPPY HOUR" . Of course it was referring to the church service on Sunday. Then I was reading a magazine with little one liners that said, "Do you know what Happy Hour for the elderly is? An afternoon nap. Life not only begins at forty, it begins to show. Some of the other one liners were: You don't stop laughing because you grow old; you grow old because you stop laughing. It seems like the older Terry and I get, the more we forget...

"The Great Race" Equine Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace

'The Great Race' 18 x 24 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD Thank you! Contact me to purchase: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2009 " Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God ." Philippians 4:6 The Painting : Taking off on a different road with this one. The horses are more defined for space; the action is in the movement of line and counter lines playing angles against each other. Colors are always vivid. The Thought : Planning ahead. Is it the Great Race? In the remodeling of this house we definitely should have had a better plan and kept a better schedule. Planning ahead I should have never lined up cable or internet until we were done. This morning I began to wake and lifted one eyelid and saw it was light in the room. Terry is on a different schedule and I knew he had to be up. My eyes flew open to the alarm clock and it was only 4 am. I realized then t...

"Mums" Flower Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace

"Mums" 18 x 24 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD! THank you! Contact me to purchase: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2009 " You then, my child, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. " 2 Timothy 2:1 The Painting: This is a second painting I was working on when Barbie was visiting. I finished it up yesterday. It began with a bottom layout in acrylic for value placement. From this point there are layers of oils piled on top using a wide brush. The Thought: Not sure of what it is, but I have been "down" for two days straight. Hopefully today will be better. Anytime I ate or drank water it felt like a tightening in my stomach, like an old fashioned tummy ache. Did not get to go visit our best friends in Mt Vernon yesterday...so I am a bit sad. Hopefully today I can eat again. Terry continues to rip out the bathroom in our bedroom. The shower is completely torn out and tonight I think he intends to pull out the toilet and the ...

"Reflections in the Wind" 24 x 36 inches Acrylic on Canvas SOLD Contact me to purchase: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2009 “ For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it .”- Matthew 16:25 The Painting: I worked on this one while Barbie was here painting with me in the studio. It began with two soft layers of Indian Yellow with some dripping. Then the sketching out of the horse and the strength seem to spread across the composition before I realized it. It is one of those paintings it is hard to walk away from. The Thought : When we woke up this morning it felt good to have known I slept all night. It was such a small thing, but yesterday I was outside waiting for mom and the head construction crew man stopped to chat with me on the building next door. He was proud of his men and the job they were doing. I could not fault that in any way and complimented him on their ability to work together so s...
