I was working after our Valentine Dinner last night.  Too full to think about bed, so I wandered off into the studio to pick up where I left off yesterday morning.  Life got in the way of painting yesterday. Terry had sprayed all the varnish, I was trying to catch up on email and work on the AOT website and finish up my new site and time flew by.

By noon yesterday I was starving for some reason and made my favorite veggie shepherd's pie.  It is so simple to make and so satisfying to eat.  First I scrub three large organic russets, then cut them into bite size pieces and boil them for mashed potatoes. While the potatoes are cooking, I sautee some onion in just water, then add frozen organic veggies of choice. Our  choice was a veggie mix with pea, carrots etc and then some broccoli and squash. As that cooks I mix up some cornstarch and water and slowly add that and some seasoning to the veggies.  Once they are done, I put them into a glass pan for the oven.  Immediately I mash the potatoes with vegetable broth and a little salt and put the mashed potatoes on top of the vegetables.  Pop it into the oven for about twenty minutes... and oh my  is it good.  I use to love mac and cheese for comfort food, but this is my go to when I need that satisfying comfort.  Even Terry loves eating it.  That was our quick vegan lunch.  But for dinner, Stacey went and picked up awesome Mexican food for their household and ours and that is what has me almost moaning with 'full'.  Top it off with organic cherry pie and one single chocolate dipped strawberry and I would say Valentine's Day was pretty relaxing.

When we ate at lunch time, Terry put on the movie Giant.  I was curled up on the couch with my thick red thermo blanket, head in his lap and I went straight to sleep until Stacey called hours later.   We turned in fairly early and fell asleep watching East of Eden.

Morning called early and I wanted to get this up on the blog before the day got away. I hope to paint more later today on another small painting. I have this urge to dibble back into two favorite areas... one is pathways and gardens and the other is figurative. I was a fashion illustrator for ten years and somewhere inside is the desire to paint the figure again.

May your weekend be blessed. May you be blessed to be a blessing to someone else.

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:34-35 NIV

A Bit of Wonder Contemporary Horse Oil Daily Painting Art by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 30 x 2 inches of thick buttery oils! Contact me to purchase: Laurie "This is the day that the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it". Psalm 118:24 It was a day of celebration yesterday as Lauren Gracen was born. Stacey began her labor around nine in the morning and was ready to push by 12:15, but they held her off while getting things set up. Took four good contractions with multiple pushes and the baby was there! All grandparents accounted for to count the toes and fingers! My admiration is for my daughter and her bravery and calmness despite the tension and newness of what she faced. I was honored to be there as the baby was delivered seeing my granddaughter push out into the light and take her first breathe... and then cry... and that she did. Terry was able to participate and he and Larry helped with pushing and getting Stacey upright for the process and then Terry was hon...

Arrival...Refrigerator?

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2024 Arrival Oil on Canvas  SOLD   by Laurie Pace   Proverbs 16:3 "Commit to the Lord whtever you do, and he will establish your plans."   Worrisome times laced with prayers.   The world seems like a scary place lately. Praying for everyone affected by the last two hurricanes.  My adventures today were the result of a dead refrigerator. I have loved my Kitchen Aid refrigerator very much. The first one in the 'French Kitchen' look died at 13 months. Hubby wanted the same refrigerator. Well this one made it four years and a few months. I cannot believe appliances are not made to last longer...but wait, is that because they make more money if we have to replace it in 4-5 years?  You replace your mattress at least every 7 years... and your washer dryer, you might get 7 years out of those... The stoves seem to make it closer to 10 years. We are Lowe's customers, and Robert ...
