Falling into Winter… My Summer Dream

This morning brought a tiny Texas rain, old paintings rediscovered while cleaning out years of files, and thoughts about what it means to let go of some of the weight we've carried.

Perhaps that's why my mind wandered north...to Newfoundland, to a place Terry has wanted to visit for years and a piece of his family's history waiting there.

Maybe this season isn't about going backward at all.

Maybe it's about keeping the treasures, releasing the weight, picking up the camera, and asking:

Where haven't we been yet?

Time is moving forward.

Why wait?   Elle

I loved it there. It did not love me!  Mold was my downfall.  I was prolific at painting there with my studio looking over the waters of a large catfish pond and Lake Cypress Springs. Stacey began her labor around nine in the morning and was ready to push by 12:15, but they held her off while getting things set up. Took four good contractions with multiple pushes and the baby was there! All grandparents accounted for to count the toes and fingers! My admiration is for my daughter and her bravery and calmness despite the tension and newness of what she faced. I was honored to be there as the baby was delivered seeing my granddaughter push out into the light and take her first breathe... and then cry... and that she did.
