Life can become so busy that we spend more time thinking about everything we need to do than actually doing any of it.

This morning I gave myself three minutes.

Three minutes later, the piles surrounding me were gone and my desk was clear.

Sometimes finding a little peace—and even a little joy—begins that simply.

Looking at an unfinished stage of my painting Crossing the County Line reminded me of another lesson. There are moments in the studio when pushing harder doesn't help. You have to stop, step away, breathe and allow yourself to find the quiet again.

Tomorrow I'll share what happened when I returned to this painting.

Sometimes joy isn't far away at all.

Sometimes it is just across the line.   Elle

Stacey began her labor around nine in the morning and was ready to push by 12:15, but they held her off while getting things set up. Took four good contractions with multiple pushes and the baby was there! All grandparents accounted for to count the toes and fingers! My admiration is for my daughter and her bravery and calmness despite the tension and newness of what she faced. I was honored to be there as the baby was delivered seeing my granddaughter push out into the light and take her first breathe... and then cry... and that she did.
