Easter Reflections: A Quiet Turning
Over the past three weeks, I have found myself drawing closer to our Father in a way that feels both intentional and deeply needed.
I’ve begun a new habit—one that has becomes a constant. Throughout the day, I turn my thoughts and prayers toward Him, asking not just for guidance, but for awareness… for the ability to listen. More often than not, the answer is simple: wait on Him. If I give Him the time and the space, His light will come.
We live in a world that fills every moment. Running from place to place, constant noise, screens in front of us at all times—phones, television, distractions layered upon distractions. It is so easy to become consumed by it all without even realizing what we are missing.
These past weeks, I have tried to step away from that pull—choosing instead a quiet, continuous prayer throughout my day, especially in the moments in between work, painting, and responsibilities. A returning. A refocusing.
Last night, while reading Streams in the Desert, I came across an evening prayer that I read aloud to my husband. I did not expect how deeply the words would settle into my heart:
“The day is done, our Father, and we bring it to You. Give it Your blessing. As it is now to be folded away with all past days, to remain closed until the books are opened — pass Your cleansing hand over it, and then put Your seal upon it. Bless all we have done. Forgive our sins. Sanctify to us all our experiences. Make clean our hearts within us. Strengthen us in our souls.”
It stayed with me.
We are not meant to live in yesterday, nor to rush ahead into tomorrow. We are given this day—and it is enough.
As we enter Easter, my faith rests in the Resurrection of Jesus… in the gift of His sacrifice, and in the life we are given through Him.
I understand not everyone shares this faith. But I do believe in the peace that comes from laying our burdens down—releasing our worries, our fears, and even our unanswered questions.
Lay them before the Cross.
Let them go.
There is a quiet peace waiting for us… when we step away from the noise and simply listen. There is a version on my website if you decide to visit there. It ties into my painting with God at my side! Elle
