Transitions each Day

Painting in Process
by Laurie Pace
Another Perspective
I am learning to follow where the work leads—sometimes into heavy texture and movement, and other times into softer transitions and layered color. It is within this balance that my expression is widening, becoming something more than it was before.
Several years ago, I created a painting called Celebrating Night to Day, inspired by the transition of sunrise. Painted on birch using a softer acrylic approach, it marked a shift from my usual palette knife work into a more fluid, layered process. The painting below was my first one to work on.. using wood and paint.
This painting came together over several days and was purchased before it was even completed—reminding me how powerful the process of transition can be. Not just in painting, but in life.
Now, I find myself returning to that idea again—exploring a transition from heavier textures into lighter movement, and bringing that approach into my horse paintings. Read more about my process on my website today. Elle
