Color palete is every color scraped from a prior painting of all of them... and beautiful golds, browns and reds and purples oh and yellow gold are bring it to your eyes.

Layers and Layers

This painting came from layered paint gathered on my palette — nothing wasted, everything blended into something new. Built with thick palette knife strokes, the ridges and texture create a dimensional surface where the horse begins to emerge through movement rather than outline.

Gold was added to bring light and break the pattern, while greens, earth tones, and touches of turquoise and blue create shifting color throughout the form. There is a rhythm to the piece — almost musical — with repeated pulls and curves that guide the eye across the canvas.

It reminds me that life moves the same way. Twists, turns, and unexpected changes all become part of what rises next. This piece found its voice quickly — and just as quickly, found its home. Stacey began her labor around nine in the morning and was ready to push by 12:15, but they held her off while getting things set up. Took four good contractions with multiple pushes and the baby was there! All grandparents accounted for to count the toes and fingers! My admiration is for my daughter and her bravery and calmness despite the tension and newness of what she faced. I was honored to be there as the baby was delivered seeing my granddaughter push out into the light and take her first breathe... and then cry... and that she did. Gathering... The Good People are Gathering. Figurative Palette Knife Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace
