"Always be humble and Gentle. Be Patient, bearing one another in love." Ephesians 4:2

 HURRY

This time of year finds everyone in a hurry. The days feel shorter, the lists longer, and patience thinner than we’d like to admit. From an artist’s perspective, I notice how quickly we move past one another without really seeing what’s in front of us. We rush to judgment just as easily as we rush through our errands. The mother struggling to manage three children climbing out of a shopping cart while balancing a newborn in a carrier becomes a moment of irritation instead of a moment of empathy. We ask ourselves why the children won’t listen, without considering how full her hands—and her heart—might already be.

What about the elderly man at the checkout, slowly unloading his basket, each movement careful and deliberate. In our hurry, his pace feels like an obstacle rather than a reminder. AND on the highway, cars weave and zoom, horns blare, and the urgency to arrive overtakes any sense of calm. Everywhere we are speed is rewarded, and slowing down feels almost like a failure. Yet, as an artist, I see these moments as sketches of humanity—unfinished, imperfect, and deeply human.

Be Patient, bearing one another in love, even for yourself.

When the hurry enters our own homes, it feels even heavier. A child forgets their homework, a dishwasher breaks down, and suddenly patience gives way to frustration. These small disruptions reveal how tightly we cling to control and how little space we leave for grace. Perhaps the real art to life is learning to pause, to observe without judgment, and to remember that everyone—ourselves included—is carrying something unseen. In the hurry, we may miss the beauty of compassion, but it’s always there, waiting for us to slow down enough to notice. Elle

Sunlit Bowl

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2025 Sunlit Bowl Oil on Canvas  SOLD   by Laurie Pace   A Painting of soft pink and white flowers   created in 2013 brings back memories of living at Lake Cypress Springs. I loved it there. It did not love me!  Mold was my downfall.  I was prolific at painting there with my studio looking over the waters of a large catfish pond and Lake Cypress Springs. The mold pushed us back to DRY Dallas.  God guides our path today.  Memories are flooding in with the morning sun.  Proverbs 4:18    “ The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day.”  Today will be over 100 degrees but by Saturday the high is 79. Weather is the main talk these days. Remember I am in Texas.   We heard they may get snow in the Ohio River Valley. We are to see storms from the Pacific Hurricane coming our directio...

A Bit of Wonder Contemporary Horse Oil Daily Painting Art by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 30 x 2 inches of thick buttery oils! Contact me to purchase: Laurie "This is the day that the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it". Psalm 118:24 It was a day of celebration yesterday as Lauren Gracen was born. Stacey began her labor around nine in the morning and was ready to push by 12:15, but they held her off while getting things set up. Took four good contractions with multiple pushes and the baby was there! All grandparents accounted for to count the toes and fingers! My admiration is for my daughter and her bravery and calmness despite the tension and newness of what she faced. I was honored to be there as the baby was delivered seeing my granddaughter push out into the light and take her first breathe... and then cry... and that she did. Terry was able to participate and he and Larry helped with pushing and getting Stacey upright for the process and then Terry was hon...
