Alone and Broken
by Laurie Pace

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” — Psalm 147:3
“For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God.” — Ephesians 2:8

We live in a broken world.

So often, we direct our lives into things that promise fulfillment, stability, or meaning, only to discover they cannot hold the weight of our pain. Brokenness shows itself in many ways—quietly in the heart, and visibly in the world around us.

Homelessness is real.
Mental illness is real.

And it can happen to any of us.

Every day we pass people sleeping under bridges, in doorways, or wherever they can find a place to rest their head. They endure the cold of winter and the heat of summer, unseen by many and misunderstood by most. I never imagined that in all my years, our family would witness this reality touch someone we love so deeply.

Despite our efforts—trying to help, to guide them toward medical care, to protect and support them—the person we love slowly pulled away, distancing himself from reality. After two years of trying to hold things together, we reached a painful truth: there are limits to what we can do.

Only God our Father knows the full journey of the lost.
Man is easily broken throughout life. Loss, illness, trauma, and disappointment can fracture even the strongest among us. Yet Scripture reminds us that God does not turn away from brokenness. He meets us there. Our Father guides and directs our days, even when the path feels unclear. He uses broken hearts and broken seasons to teach us to lean upon His Word and to rediscover hope and grace.

With the celebration of Jesus’ birth, we are reminded that Christ came into a broken world—not to avoid suffering, but to redeem it. He came for the lost, the weary, and the wounded. Through His sacrifice, we are offered forgiveness, healing, and salvation—not by our own strength, but by His grace alone. It is the gift of God.

Let us pray for those who are lost from their families.
Let us pray for the brokenhearted to find the light.
Let us pray for eyes that see and hearts that care.

God heals. God restores. And even when we cannot see the outcome, we trust that He is still at work.  Elle

Heavenly Father,
We lift to You the brokenhearted, the lost, and those separated from their families. Bring light where there is darkness, comfort where there is pain, and hope where hearts feel weary. Heal wounds we cannot see, and guide each soul according to Your perfect will. We trust in Your grace, Your mercy, and Your unfailing love.
Amen.

I loved it there. It did not love me!  Mold was my downfall.  I was prolific at painting there with my studio looking over the waters of a large catfish pond and Lake Cypress Springs. The mold pushed us back to DRY Dallas.  God guides our path today.  Memories are flooding in with the morning sun.  Proverbs 4:18    “ The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day.”  Today will be over 100 degrees but by Saturday the high is 79. Weather is the main talk these days. Remember I am in Texas.   We heard they may get snow in the Ohio River Valley. We are to see storms from the Pacific Hurricane coming our directio...

Contact me to purchase: Laurie "This is the day that the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it". Psalm 118:24 It was a day of celebration yesterday as Lauren Gracen was born. Stacey began her labor around nine in the morning and was ready to push by 12:15, but they held her off while getting things set up. Took four good contractions with multiple pushes and the baby was there! All grandparents accounted for to count the toes and fingers! My admiration is for my daughter and her bravery and calmness despite the tension and newness of what she faced. I was honored to be there as the baby was delivered seeing my granddaughter push out into the light and take her first breathe... and then cry... and that she did. Terry was able to participate and he and Larry helped with pushing and getting Stacey upright for the process and then Terry was hon...
