The pulls in this piece are especially bold, thick, and intensely layered. The palette knife has always been where my heart lies as an artist. There’s something mesmerizing about working with rich, buttery Holbein oils—mixing, carving, and layering them into ¼- to ½-inch deep pulls down the canvas. The result is both tactile and visually lush. These works drip with color, and I strive to bring genuine dimension and movement into the spaces they occupy.
Steve Sonnen of Mirada Fine Art once described it beautifully:
“Viewing a Laurie Justus Pace painting is a rich experience dripping with color and emotion. Her passionate works are alive with movement, boldly created with a wide brush and a palette knife. She loves working with oils, dramatically carving out the paint and transferring her energy to the canvas and ultimately on to the viewer.”

I will soon be able to share details about the gallery that will be carrying my work moving forward, and I’m excited for this next chapter.
Color has always been intense for me—alive, expressive, and endlessly inspiring. My artist nature is a treasured gift from God.
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” James 1:17
