Close up from  "Between the Lines"
Oil on Canvas  SOLD  by Laurie Pace

The close-up above is a small section of a much larger work—a 3 x 4 ft painting built with layers of thick Holbein oils. Created in the tradition of my Painted Pony Pulls, this was the last large piece I painted for Mirada Fine Art’s special exhibition in February 2023.

Below, you’ll find the full painting. You can also view it on the gallery’s website at miradafineart.com

Colorful painting with pulls of thick rich oils by Laurie Pace

The pulls in this piece are especially bold, thick, and intensely layered. The palette knife has always been where my heart lies as an artist. There’s something mesmerizing about working with rich, buttery Holbein oils—mixing, carving, and layering them into ¼- to ½-inch deep pulls down the canvas. The result is both tactile and visually lush. These works drip with color, and I strive to bring genuine dimension and movement into the spaces they occupy.

Steve Sonnen of Mirada Fine Art once described it beautifully:

Viewing a Laurie Justus Pace painting is a rich experience dripping with color and emotion. Her passionate works are alive with movement, boldly created with a wide brush and a palette knife. She loves working with oils, dramatically carving out the paint and transferring her energy to the canvas and ultimately on to the viewer.”
 Steve Sonnen, Mirada Fine Art

I will soon be able to share details about the gallery that will be carrying my work moving forward, and I’m excited for this next chapter.

Color has always been intense for me—alive, expressive, and endlessly inspiring. My artist nature is a treasured gift from God.

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” James 1:17

Sunlit Bowl

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2025 Sunlit Bowl Oil on Canvas  SOLD   by Laurie Pace   A Painting of soft pink and white flowers   created in 2013 brings back memories of living at Lake Cypress Springs. I loved it there. It did not love me!  Mold was my downfall.  I was prolific at painting there with my studio looking over the waters of a large catfish pond and Lake Cypress Springs. The mold pushed us back to DRY Dallas.  God guides our path today.  Memories are flooding in with the morning sun.  Proverbs 4:18    “ The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day.”  Today will be over 100 degrees but by Saturday the high is 79. Weather is the main talk these days. Remember I am in Texas.   We heard they may get snow in the Ohio River Valley. We are to see storms from the Pacific Hurricane coming our directio...
A Bit of Wonder Contemporary Horse Oil Daily Painting Art by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 30 x 2 inches of thick buttery oils! Contact me to purchase: Laurie "This is the day that the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it". Psalm 118:24 It was a day of celebration yesterday as Lauren Gracen was born. Stacey began her labor around nine in the morning and was ready to push by 12:15, but they held her off while getting things set up. Took four good contractions with multiple pushes and the baby was there! All grandparents accounted for to count the toes and fingers! My admiration is for my daughter and her bravery and calmness despite the tension and newness of what she faced. I was honored to be there as the baby was delivered seeing my granddaughter push out into the light and take her first breathe... and then cry... and that she did. Terry was able to participate and he and Larry helped with pushing and getting Stacey upright for the process and then Terry was hon...
