My past week has been upside down and hopefully between today and tomorrow we can put our house back together!  

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” John 11:25-26

That is why not many blogs the past week. NO painting, no working in the studio..but moving things, rearranging things, packing things, throwing away things....    We removed an old 'appliance' fireplace that was almost 20 years old. It stopped working last winter. We had talked of putting in a 'real' fireplace  and that is happening. It unfortunately is not a solid brick inside but it will work.  Terry took out the old unit and is a the local "DROP OFF" with the remnants of rock, tile and lots of mortar tapped into wood, and old chimney pipe etc.  Yesterday Butler Roofing  was over and installed two new attic vents on our home... They are so quiet we are pleased after just one night of quiet!!!  Also our great electrician was out to rewire and straighten things out in the fireplace hole. We had a web of wire.  Thank you to Griggs Electric  who has worked us through much rehab in this home. We have the best people near by!  I recommend them if you life in the Dallas FtWorth metroplex.

That poor little 8 x 10 pony was loved by a company to do very large prints and it was not here for me to even use to scan... so I created something with the same heart, a kindred spirit. The underlays are pages from a western book and then torn papers of different varieties were added along with stains of paint and purposeful areas of paint.  This would not be a painting I would do today, but the goal was to capture the spirit of the first painting. Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Website   Thinking ahead to the Thanksgiving celebration next week, I remembered back to those previous dinners that I cooked, served, ate quickly, and cleaned up.  This is how I felt.  It is probably strange...even for me but I had the best fun sketching it out and painting it. We lost another dear family member this week. She has celebrated her 'continuation' day and is now with her mom and dad and her other cousins.  She leaves behind a family that will always celebrate her gentleness.  My aunt was special to all of us. She loved each of us dearly for who we were and was always ready with a hug or a 'good job'.    My memories are of breakfast pastries smeared with butter on top. It was not like they were not sweet enough as they were, but at her small kitch...
