I think I choose this painting because I woke up at 2:30 and did not go back to sleep until four.  We were up by five ....  and headed shortly to Decatur on an errand.  So I was OUT in the dark and did watch the faint sun break through before it rose.  This is a late blog post for me as well. Normally I post blogs around 9 am... it is 2:30 here. 

The year this was painted I was working a series of Warrior Women.  The tale of who this is ... you have to go read it on my Website blog. Just click the painting and get there in a wink. I may have to paint some more!!!

I loved it there. It did not love me!  Mold was my downfall.  I was prolific at painting there with my studio looking over the waters of a large catfish pond and Lake Cypress Springs. Stacey began her labor around nine in the morning and was ready to push by 12:15, but they held her off while getting things set up. Took four good contractions with multiple pushes and the baby was there! All grandparents accounted for to count the toes and fingers! My admiration is for my daughter and her bravery and calmness despite the tension and newness of what she faced. I was honored to be there as the baby was delivered seeing my granddaughter push out into the light and take her first breathe... and then cry... and that she did. Gathering... The Good People are Gathering. Figurative Palette Knife Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace
