It's All Mine
Oil on Canvas  SOLD  by Laurie Pace

FRIDAY!!! Are you ready for the weekend?   I have spent the last week working pretty hard but unfortunately on the computer more than at the easel.  This contemporary horse painting was a small one with lots of thick layers of paint.  It is only an 8 x 10 inch painting, but the oil paint is very thick and full of ridges and depth. Hard to tell from the  photo.  I have a huge canvas to attack... for me to play on.

Isaiah 41:10 "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

Large vertical canvas prepped with paint and ready to work on composition.

There are base layers of acrylic paint and as you can see it is large.  I will be sketching this morning deciding what will grown upon this. I am feeling more vertical than horizontal. Also not sure if I will stay with layers of acrylics, or put a layer of clear gesso on this and move forward with oils. My supply of oils is limited and I need to order some Holbein Duo Oils... I also use several other regular oil brands but I have to be aware of mixing and overlays. Gamblin and  Daniel Smith and a few others that I will have one or two special colors.  The Holbein Duo Oils are water based and clean with soap.  The other oils are OILS.  I have learned to use them correctly over the past 25 years and with the break of not painting, I am curious what may be.

I am signing off on this blog this morning and starting on that canvas!   Have a great weekend.  Elle

It has to head to Mirada Fine Art in about three or four weeks... meanwhile it will be banished to the room with the dehumidifier in it.  Stay tuned at Mirada Fine Art with Steve Sonnen for more details about what is happening to this "crowd" from my Good People Series.  In fact, drop Steve an email and ask to be added to the mailing list for this special gathering.  Good food, good friends and good art.   What more could you want? A Bit of Wonder Contemporary Horse Oil Daily Painting Art by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 30 x 2 inches of thick buttery oils! Contact me to purchase: Laurie "This is the day that the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it". Psalm 118:24 It was a day of celebration yesterday as Lauren Gracen was born. Stacey began her labor around nine in the morning and was ready to push by 12:15, but they held her off while getting things set up. Took four good contractions with multiple pushes and the baby was there! All grandparents accounted for to count the toes and fingers! My admiration is for my daughter and her bravery and calmness despite the tension and newness of what she faced. I was honored to be there as the baby was delivered seeing my granddaughter push out into the light and take her first breathe... and then cry... and that she did. Terry was able to participate and he and Larry helped with pushing and getting Stacey upright for the process and then Terry was hon...

Arrival...Refrigerator?

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2024 Arrival Oil on Canvas  SOLD   by Laurie Pace   Proverbs 16:3 "Commit to the Lord whtever you do, and he will establish your plans."   Worrisome times laced with prayers.   The world seems like a scary place lately. Praying for everyone affected by the last two hurricanes.  My adventures today were the result of a dead refrigerator. I have loved my Kitchen Aid refrigerator very much. The first one in the 'French Kitchen' look died at 13 months. Hubby wanted the same refrigerator. Well this one made it four years and a few months. I cannot believe appliances are not made to last longer...but wait, is that because they make more money if we have to replace it in 4-5 years?  You replace your mattress at least every 7 years... and your washer dryer, you might get 7 years out of those... The stoves seem to make it closer to 10 years. We are Lowe's customers, and Robert ...
