This past week’s journey took us to the Tone Guitar Shop in Southlake. I have been in there a half dozen times, looking or with someone buying a guitar.  It was to be an expedition as I decided to trade in two of my guitars for one newer something. This is the only place to go. Everyone there is one of the best I have worked with.  I laughed over this photo…I had them all trying to find my guitars for values and they had each picked them up and played them and truly felt the beauty of them….and to work they went.

The photo was my second trip of three to accomplish this.  I have an injured arm, my right arm is out of commission until I go through Physical therapy. Richard, the far left on the photo has worked with us many times…when I arrived the second day, he played several guitars for me, until I heard what I wanted for sound.  Then I carefully played gently for about ten min. My daughter was with me. She came and sat down and told me it sounded like her happy mama singing and playing! It was indeed the one.  Not flashy and overly sparkly, but with a partial titanium build, the resonance is deep and rich.

We left them to finish up and I had all the info I needed, and Terry and I returned in the morning to pick up the new baby.  I left with the guitar, a goody bag, a t-shirt, a new stand and one set of emergency back up strings, a new bottle of polish, and a humidifying bag .  Promise photos later once I can hold her and play her.

I could have sold both of my two guitars outright, but there was additional savings and I received decent offers on both of them. I had preset in my mind what I had to have and they met it exactly.  This new one and my first guitar, a pre 1965 Alvarez Classical will be the ones of my playing years ahead. I cannot wait for this new journey.  Thanks to my Dad and Mom this was possible for me. I miss them both daily. They bought me the early Alvarez at a pawn shop in Sherman Texas in 1966 when they took my older brother to school at Austin College. I was in love, and after all my years in piano and still in piano, I self taught the guitar and then me and my bestie, JJ, sang and wrote music together; on the other afternoons we were on her tandem bicycle riding the hills around White Rock Elementary School in Dallas. Music is part of breathing for me just like painting.

I am taking everything a day at a time and we will watch together what comes to be. I am so glad you are here with me on this journey since fall of 2006.

Contact me to purchase: Laurie "This is the day that the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it". Psalm 118:24 It was a day of celebration yesterday as Lauren Gracen was born. Stacey began her labor around nine in the morning and was ready to push by 12:15, but they held her off while getting things set up. Took four good contractions with multiple pushes and the baby was there! All grandparents accounted for to count the toes and fingers! My admiration is for my daughter and her bravery and calmness despite the tension and newness of what she faced. I was honored to be there as the baby was delivered seeing my granddaughter push out into the light and take her first breathe... and then cry... and that she did. Terry was able to participate and he and Larry helped with pushing and getting Stacey upright for the process and then Terry was hon...

Arrival...Refrigerator?

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2024 Arrival Oil on Canvas  SOLD   by Laurie Pace   Proverbs 16:3 "Commit to the Lord whtever you do, and he will establish your plans."   Worrisome times laced with prayers.   The world seems like a scary place lately. Praying for everyone affected by the last two hurricanes.  My adventures today were the result of a dead refrigerator. I have loved my Kitchen Aid refrigerator very much. The first one in the 'French Kitchen' look died at 13 months. Hubby wanted the same refrigerator. Well this one made it four years and a few months. I cannot believe appliances are not made to last longer...but wait, is that because they make more money if we have to replace it in 4-5 years?  You replace your mattress at least every 7 years... and your washer dryer, you might get 7 years out of those... The stoves seem to make it closer to 10 years. We are Lowe's customers, and Robert ...
