I have been working the past 8 days on new small paintings and creating two more areas in my shop for Paintings Under $200 and Paintings Under $500   There are actually larger pieces in the under $500 store, so you might want to take a look! RAIN "He went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when evening was come, he was there alone." Matt 14:23 This was the verse from Streams in the Desert this morning and with the reading adjoining it, I knew I would be sharing it with you.  Last night we had 5.25 inches of rain and glory to God, cooler temps are two days away!!! Good bye to 100 plus days!!!  I can honestly say we felt alone in the 'desert' we have lived in since June... only 1 inch of measurable rain in June... and nothing else unt

After the second scrape from five horses to three... it made sense the next morning  to scrape it again and muddy the surface making it tonal to earth colors.   It takes guts to do this. You have to take a deep breath and start pulling the colors together allowing them to blend a story... You no longer look for horses when you do this... you create a single powerful horse... stately and magical and beautiful. Add sweeps of contrast colors can be seen once the horse is established. This is the harmony brought to the painting. It is also the strength of the painting... the blending and the top strong colors.  The Painting sold the first day it arrived at the Gallery. I miss the days of free painting like this. Ready for any commissions! Contact me.   “This is what th

I can only say it was near one in the morning when I went this direction.  I stopped and left it on the easel just to return in the morning. I knew I would either love it... by feeling it work (Looking back I like the other first one better!) or I would wipe it again.  What do you think will happen? In our lives we are challenged by many things and sometimes sink into desperation or sadness or even frustration.  I have always stepped back, walked away to do something else besides paint or think... and in this case it was sleep.  This is part of the frustration of being a painter that paints intuitively. I can sketch all day long but sometimes that just does not work out. Being BRAVE is essential to success. Remember our Lord is with you in lif

You can see how the paint was spread from small squirts and blended in the photo above. The photo below is a close up of the upper right mid area you see with the reds and greens.   From there... I proceeded to find the horses and establish them.  I was working late at night, probably close to midnight and working by one spotlight lamp. (Terry redid the studio lighting when we moved from this large house where this was painted, to the small house across the street. I have the best lighting and I thank J

" For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” Matthew 18:20 That is actually it!  Where I put paint on a canvas in single motion, it gathers together to become one strong painting. God's spirit is coming through the paint when ever I approach a canvas.  I have said over and over, if I try to go my way with things... it messes up and this journey I am sharing is the example of trying to control things.  When you let go of things in life...and allow Him to lead you... then things will begin to get easier. Not sure where you stand in your life, but we stand with our Lord. We are still 'working' continually in His name and abiding with Him.   Let Him take the lead in your life.  I cannot wait till tomorrow to show more pro

This is how it begins.   3 ft by 4 ft is the size of the canvas. I literally do not know what I will see in this as I progress. IT IS ABOUT BEING BRAVE There is no rhyme or reason to placement of colors and I usually select random colors. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not...but you learn to flow with the mistakes along the way. I have not shared this in quite a while.. so we will do it this week.   Have you ever found yourself doubting something going on around you?   I sort of felt that way when I started this painting  this way... doubting myself. You may doubt yourself or someone else. It is very easy to fall into the trap of doubting or discontentment with worry. I have always been in control... right?  WRONG. I learned many years ago, I have
