This painting came from a scrapped painting where the mounds of scrapped oils made two paintings! The stark white against the earthy green grays exploding into Sunrise was simply remarkable. The horses were there waiting to be discovered with my palette knife! I will try to remember to post the second painting in my next blog!

My Choice is "LIVE"

Live for joy. Live for Love. Live for adventure. Live to touch others’ lives. Live to give. Live to sing. Live to dance. Live to paint. Live to praise.

In this life we have too many worries or things that distract us from our own joy in life. God has blessed us with gifts to share with others. He has blessed each of us with different things and our lives should be lived fully. He does not want us unhappy. Usually, we bring that upon ourselves. He wants us to live our lives knowing He is walking with us and enjoys watching us be happy.

God wants you and me happy.  I know there are days I am not sure what that looks like. Do you? I have written before that my grandmother told me not to chase happiness because I could not find it or catch it.  She told me it comes in doing for others.

When you read Romans 15:13 “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”  What could go wrong?  Want to go 'abounding' with me?

Sometimes I realize it is because I am stuck looking at everything that seems wrong in life or irritated by something someone did and it is better (or is it) to go around in a ‘snit’ and deny myself the joy God has blessed me with for this day.  Why are we all easy to anger?

James 1:2-3 “My Brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.”

PAUSE… patience? How is yours? How fast do you anger or feel mistreated or rejected? It is so easy to fall into POOR ME.  Everybody will feel sorry for POOR ME.  Right???

Wrong.

Psalm 30:5 “For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.”

We have the choice between peace and anger. We have the choice to react with our anger or we can accept the beauty of peace and react with love.

A peaceful heart will triumph over anger. Anger can be a healthy emotion but when our intent would be to shine a light on someone doing wrong… or what you judge as wrong, that feeling of grrr builds up inside of you and it truly will wear on your health and your peace.  Too often, anger gets out of control and stress hits your body.
Getting mad seems to come in stages. For me it begins with frustration and blooms into tension, discomfort, headaches, and sadness, and then I try to work it off and I hurt myself. I should have never gone there... to getting mad… it is better to walk away from the situation.  Usually there is more to the situation and most of the time it is  simply a misunderstanding.

God truly wants to see us enjoying our lives.  Do not allow things to build up inside of you. Every person perceives things differently. Learn to find your softer side and put away the emotions building beneath your anger.

Romans 5:1-2 “Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”

Mixed Media Collage Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Justus Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 Horse Collage Fall 2013  12 x 18 inches Mixed Media on Canvas.  This was an intentional paint to imitate one of the 100 ponies I did in 2012. That poor little 8 x 10 pony was loved by a company to do very large prints and it was not here for me to even use to scan... so I created something with the same heart, a kindred spirit. The underlays are pages from a western book and then torn papers of different varieties were added along with stains of paint and purposeful areas of paint.  This would not be a painting I would do today, but the goal was to capture the spirit of the first painting. Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Website   Thinking ahead to the Thanksgiving celebration next week, I remembered back to those previous dinners that I cooked, served, ate quickly, and cleaned up.  This is how I felt.  It is probably strange...even for me but I had the best fun sketching it out and painting it. We lost another dear family member this week. She has celebrated her 'continuation' day and is now with her mom and dad and her other cousins.  She leaves behind a family that will always celebrate her gentleness.  My aunt was special to all of us. She loved each of us dearly for who we were and was always ready with a hug or a 'good job'.    My memories are of breakfast pastries smeared with butter on top. It was not like they were not sweet enough as they were, but at her small kitch...

Sleeping Cowboy . Ernest Hemingway . Sunday, a day of rest . Western Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

My life has the tendency to fall apart when I'm awake, you know?” Ernest Hemingway  I really enjoyed painting this scene. It was restful to me as the artist  and loved by our friends.  Sunday is the day of rest. I smiled when I found this in archives and thought it perfect for this day.  If you live in Texas you know that we still have 'rules' about not selling liquor before noon.  If you live in Texas and are in your late thirties and up, you might even remember Blue Laws.   Stores were simply NOT open...
