Terry brought me in cut flowers this morning! I was thrilled....Dead flowers, are they really dead? Absolutely NOT! Through death they provide the seeds for new blooms in our lives. ( By the way... these are Zinnias)
There is always a gift or legacy that survives a person's death as well, and new things to grow. Memories always remain, some dimming with the years. The trust and love of someone dear that has left us through death journeying on to Heaven, encourages us to live forward and carry on the the very things we have learned in life from them.
Only three out of our seven grandchildren knew my Dad.(His great grandchildren) He lived a life always serving others and I pray the seeds he planted served every family well. We lost one of these grandchildren when he was 11 years old. I know my Dad was welcomed by him in heaven when he passed.
Having photos of the three older grands (his Great Grands) with Mom and Dad is a treasure and brings smiles to all of us.
Meanwhile, here is a treasured photo of my Dad with our eldest son when he was only three months old at Christmas time. My Dad treasured and loved his first born grandchild, a grandson, and always was proud of him through life as he grew up. There were challenges along the way that kids always face. Dad always said, you learn through your mistakes. We are blessed with our oldest son's family, his wife and three sons! Looking back at this photo from 1975, I realize it has been a lifetime of great joy with family.
There are always stories in life... from the very beginning through our continuation day to join God. Thankfully Terry and I are BLESSED to be close to family and watching all six of the remaining grandchildren bloom into wonderful caring individuals.
“Children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their opponents in court." Psalm 127:3-5
