“Don't be pushed around by the fears in your mind. Be led by the dreams in your heart.” Roy T. Bennett, The Light in the Heart

                                                      The Painting

This could have named this the celebration of color.  Not sure of day or night. BUT you can be sure it carries full color into the party of life.  Named the Invitation, this is the third painting in the Red Shoed Pony pieces. Action and color with four to seven layers of paint in areas that count… It is the "Pure Justus Collection" by Laurie Pace

My Turn - The Invitation to Find your Path

Ten years ago in a painting workshop at Selah Inn, just north of Mount Vernon, Texas, I used a slogan, "It is not art until you step out of your comfort zone." Why? Because of the constant imitation of what is before you. Limiting yourself tends to lose pure raw creativity. The truth is you must empower yourself. What makes your heart beat faster and your smile break across your face? What paintings are you drawn to from the centuries back? Time to realize in art as well as in life, you must be yourself truly and not be what other people want you to be. You must lose control to have control.

I realized this week, we have to do that now. Here we are caught up in the Covid years and now counties in Texas on the border have measles, chicken pox and leprosy. Even the words SMALL POX came across in an interview this morning.  The media has managed to throw more things in our worry bank. For ourselves and for our children, I do believe we are overloaded. Time to let it go.

Where did the joy and zest for life disappear?  Why are we allowing it to continue?
We are approaching two years of 'Covid'.  Are you finding yourself disappearing into your thoughts, your small area you call life?

  1. Stay Connected. If you can get professional help, do it. If not stay connected to your family or friends.
  2. Add small things to your life. It could be adopting a kitten or a puppy, or take a baking class online or an art class on line. This will 'engage' you and your mind will begin the uptake of feeling happiness again.
  3. Excercise.  Walk, run, stretch, do yoga, ... just keep moving. The good endorphins will begin to bloom in your body.
  4. Own it.  Make sure you concentrate on control of things you can control. My Dad always said 'Fake it till you make it.'  Life today can be one big blur of nothingness. We have to have what small control we can on establishing work time, play time, exercise time, eating, cleaning etc... Put structure into your day everyday. Always keep time for the things you love, music, reading, cooking etc.
  5. Self Compassion. Negative thoughts easily grow in a restless mind. Be kind to yourself and know you have to take care of yourself in the midst of this chaos. You might set aside your prayer time, your meditation time, your piano time, guitar time, painting time... chess playing, baking... whatever it takes to walk further away from the sense of helplessness. Reach out to others as it will help you.
  6. Going a step past 'connecting' to others, you must REACH out to others. Be the initiator. Nothing is better with making you feel better in your mind than to bring some joy to someone else. By making them feel special... you gain ten fold in your happiness and confidence.
I noticed today that Facebook and Instagram were down in a worldwide outage. That actually felt good that it was GONE.  Wish it was permanent. No more gossip. No more lies. No more feeling less than others.  No more comparing your situation with others that seems so much better. Facebook tends to rip us apart and at the same time butt us up against each other. See if you can walk away.

As Water reflects the face, so one's life reflects the heart." Proverbs 27:9

A Bit of Wonder Contemporary Horse Oil Daily Painting Art by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 30 x 2 inches of thick buttery oils! Contact me to purchase: Laurie "This is the day that the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it". Psalm 118:24 It was a day of celebration yesterday as Lauren Gracen was born. Stacey began her labor around nine in the morning and was ready to push by 12:15, but they held her off while getting things set up. Took four good contractions with multiple pushes and the baby was there! All grandparents accounted for to count the toes and fingers! My admiration is for my daughter and her bravery and calmness despite the tension and newness of what she faced. I was honored to be there as the baby was delivered seeing my granddaughter push out into the light and take her first breathe... and then cry... and that she did. Terry was able to participate and he and Larry helped with pushing and getting Stacey upright for the process and then Terry was hon...

Arrival...Refrigerator?

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2024 Arrival Oil on Canvas  SOLD   by Laurie Pace   Proverbs 16:3 "Commit to the Lord whtever you do, and he will establish your plans."   Worrisome times laced with prayers.   The world seems like a scary place lately. Praying for everyone affected by the last two hurricanes.  My adventures today were the result of a dead refrigerator. I have loved my Kitchen Aid refrigerator very much. The first one in the 'French Kitchen' look died at 13 months. Hubby wanted the same refrigerator. Well this one made it four years and a few months. I cannot believe appliances are not made to last longer...but wait, is that because they make more money if we have to replace it in 4-5 years?  You replace your mattress at least every 7 years... and your washer dryer, you might get 7 years out of those... The stoves seem to make it closer to 10 years. We are Lowe's customers, and Robert ...

The Marsh... of our lives? Walking with God.

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2024 The Marsh 6 x 12 inches Oil on Canvas  SOLD   by Laurie Pace   I did two of these paintings about three years ago. They both sold immediately to a Florida Collector. Simple and elegant for a horse painting.  Ephesians 5:1-2 "Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma."  One of the biggest challenges in walking with God is trusting Him and not trying to out think Him or to do everything your way. It never works.  The Apostle Paul wrote of his own struggles in Romans 7 .  Romans 7: 22-23 “ So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the ...
