“I like the night. Without the dark, we'd never see the stars.” Stephanie Meyer, Twilight
On the stories this canvas would have to tell if it could talk. It has traveled several places in the US to a gallery and home. It was a strong painting and really only wanted a home, but it was one of my Black and White series. I always believe experience and starting over is what strengthens us and I feel the spirit carries into the canvas I work on. I first tried adding color to the original piece but after an hour I knew it was wanting more.
It is a matter of giving up and piling the paint in colors and then deciding what could be carved into what was there. Just like the quote... without the paint I could never find the horse. I have to venture into the darkness before I can see it.
This horse "Transcending" is one of my strongest pieces. It is with me now as it dries but will be heading to The La Jolla Gallery in California.
John 14:2 "My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? "
