"Don't walk in front of me... I may not follow. Don't walk behind me ... I may not lead. Walk beside me .. just be my friend." Albert Camus
With the season of Advent present some verses from the Bible catch in my heart and mind and over the days I repeat them again and again and I write them over and over. While the above quote may be true for our earthly journey, I want to know the Lord is walking in front of me.
I came the the slow realization over the years that I what I thought or preplanned seemed to chew up a lot of time in life. (Too much worry or too much planning in most cases.) If I just 'leave it' and allow life to happen without my control, it is considerably less stressful. Remember God walks before us leading the way.
In the process of reading the Bible every morning as Terry and I make it through the entire book this year, I have been rewarded with great comfort rediscovering treasures read throughout my life and totally surprised and in love with the new ones. We just completed Ezekiel and before that Jeremiah and Lamentations. It was a painful journey and quite a bit of self reflection in the convicting words. Over and over I felt like God's view of the Israelites is most likely the disdain and disappointment he feels over the United States right now. A great sadness filled us as we traveled through those books. This week we began Daniel and some of the stress began to peal away again. We remain amazed and in thanksgiving for our amazing Lord.
"The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you or forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged." Deut 31:8
