“FALLING STARS: Do you remember still the falling stars that like swift horses through the heavens raced and suddenly leaped across the hurdles of our wishes -- do you recall? And we did make so many! For there were countless numbers of stars: each time we looked above we were astounded by the swiftness of their daring play, while in our hearts we felt safe and secure watching these brilliant bodies disintegrate, knowing somehow we had survived their fall.” ― Rainer Maria Rilke
This is an older painting from 2013 that sold pretty quickly after I painted it. I feel in it the same bright colors of that sailboat painting. These are colors I want to HURRY away from them.
Many times in my life's experiences I know I have tried to hurry through things just to get them done. I do not mean sacrifice quality in any way...but in my mind my focus is on something ahead and I end up missing the beauty of that precious moment I am trying so desperately to get through. The older I get, the more I realize there is a season and a reason for everything we journey through. I have found myself slowing down to actually LIVE through the time I am in today. I will not worry or think about tomorrow as it will arrive on its own.
"to those who say, “Let God hurry; let him hasten his work so we may see it. The plan of the Holy One of Israel— let it approach, let it come into view, so we may know it.” Isaiah 5:19
