“When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives mean the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand. The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing and face with us the reality of our powerlessness, that is a friend who cares.” ― Henri J.M. Nouwen, Out of Solitude: Three Meditations on the Christian Life
This was the sunset the night before we moved from Lake Cypress Springs to our home in DFW area in March 2013. We left a life behind that we do miss. . . of living in the country and having God's beauty surrounding us constantly. We left the lake to be closer to our grandchildren and unfortunately the mold on the trees at the lake were affecting me to the point of massive headaches five days out of seven and total sinus failure. Sometimes the most beautiful things in life can be dangerous for you. (That is true in relationships as well.)
This beauty is a constant reminder of the three precious years we lived in Mount Vernon, Texas at Lake Cypress Springs. God continues to bring to us beautiful sunsets where we live, we just need to get out of our house and sit and enjoy them more. We do not have the trees, the lake and the privacy, but God is present right here too. His beauty is silently surrounding us and nurturing us.
Where is the silent powerful strength in your life?
"Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength." Deuteronomy 6:5
