“Courage is grace under pressure.” ― Ernest Hemingway
Accepting gifts is usually a fun thing... Terry and I were talking about that in the car yesterday. I love getting boxes in the mail and opening them to see what is inside. It is even better when you know it is a gift and someone has really thought about you to buy you something special. Brings back that excitement we use to have as kids at Christmas time.
What about the gift of grace? Is it all the good gifts we enjoy freely in every day? It would take a lifetime to celebrate all of those from wild Buttercups blooming in the Spring, to moonlight and stars, butterflies, roses, a baby's smile... endless list.
It is also a wondrous gift of being human and finding ourselves in the midst of this earthly journey...This is the bedrock of grace, creation, life and being a human. We have a unique place in creation and we are graced. We are graced?
Could grace also be the secondary gifts we receive.. my gift of art, your gift of song, his gift of storytelling, her gift of hospitality. All of this God given, God driven. God's grace.
God pronounced the original grace as the Gift of Redemption. This is the grace which prompts us to repent, think back on when we turned the wrong way... and it propels us back to a return to a more Godly path. The turning back is a 'conversion'. We live a continual conversion to grace. Easily stated as repentance, confession and amendment of life.
Grace is given to us by God for no reason. All of us are recipients of the grace of God regardless of how "good" or "bad" we are, Think about that today... and be excited... full of anticipation of God's love and moments ahead.... part of His plan for your life.
"The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth." John 1:14
