“Hope. It's like a drop of honey, a field of tulips blooming in the springtime. It's a fresh rain, a whispered promise, a cloudless sky, the perfect punctuation mark at the end of a sentence. And it's the only thing in the world keeping me afloat.” ― Tahereh Mafi, Unravel M
I know with the hot summer days of August that last week was sheer relief giving me hope of cooler September nights at least. Days will still be hot, but if it cools off at night, there is hope of fall ahead. I do not like to rush the seasons as they are rushing by quickly right now as I am getting older. Summer will never be my favorite season. So I am thankful for these cooler days in the eighties and accept the fact the nineties will return, but the hint of summer ending is here.
In this painting... I began with three large open tulips. It is 30 x 40 inches in size and I am working with a transparent oil laying it out. I know as I type this what has happened with it but will share it over three days with you because this is not what was painted. We have to start somewhere with projects and paintings, plans and goals. We also have to stay flexible and leave open a space for change and hope to find what is truly there.
We wait in hope for the LORD; he is our help and our shield. Psalm 33:20
