“Why do you go away? So that you can come back. So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colors. And the people there see you differently, too. Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving.” ― Terry Pratchett, A Hat Full of Sky
When an artist paints, that question comes when things are done, is this painting done? As in the quote above, why does an artist come back to a painting? They can see things differently and with a new eye after spending time away from it. I truly liked the painting I posted last week but something did not settle whenever I looked at it over the weekend. I went back and filled in color changes. I think it finally balance out with this change. I feel settled now when I look at it. Time to walk away from it for 4 days and see what happens!
We are often living life right along and never even think about changes in ourselves, but a healthy diet of reflection and prayer can open your heart to realize that sometimes we do have things to work on to be a stronger person. Maybe it is time to change colors? Work from the inside out as you go. Try to see yourself as others see you. Hear your words as if someone spoke them to you. Open your eyes and heart to a new view.
He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.” Mark 5:34
