“Why do you go away? So that you can come back. So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colors. And the people there see you differently, too. Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving.” ― Terry Pratchett, A Hat Full of Sky
Yes, I painted in New York back in 2008. We had moved to Dallas the winter before and my Mom had a serious of bad health issues and my Dad's health was not in a good place. We grabbed Mom and flew up to Washington DC and drove up to the Finger Lake Region to Visit my friend Billie Bauman. I painted Billie's Dog, Fast Eddie. Slightly tempered in paint choices since I was using Billie's paints, I worked to capture the look of her "child" Fast Eddie. He is quite a character. He does not like ANY men. He took exception to Terry once they got level on the floor and played. Terry is like the dog whisperer, he had Eddie totally in love before ten minutes passed. I painted out on Billie's deck, where deer run through the yards as well as bunnies and stray kitty cats.
I miss visiting NY. The last trip was in 2010 and we have only been to St Louis twice since then for family funerals. I keep hoping for a vacation. Been praying about it. We all need that time away to reconnect as a couple and be outside of our home while doing it. Adventure maybe?
Please let us pass through your country. We will not go through any field or vineyard, or drink water from any well. We will travel along the king's highway and not turn to the right or to the left until we have passed through your territory." Numbers 20:17
