Not I, nor anyone else can travel that road for you. You must travel it by yourself. It is not far. It is within reach. Perhaps you have been on it since you were born, and did not know. Perhaps it is everywhere - on water and land.” ― Walt Whitman, Leaves of Grass
Here is the final overlay with medium and acrylic. My original thoughts were a herd of buffalo on the low horizon and more sky...but the more I think about that the more I do not feel it it the right path to take for this painting. I spent time this morning going back through prior vertical pieces as that is something I can try that the gallery wants, but the rest of the journey must be my own.
I will be finalizing sketches over the next 24 hours as to what might work on this 3 x 4 ft canvas vertically. One idea is three horses, not exactly a herd, but striking nonetheless. Another thought are three wolves coming out of the wilderness with layers of overlay of acrylic. The hard decision is based on my collectors that really like the 25 plus tubes of paint knifed on each large canvas. They truly are not into overlays...but a trip to the museum has my mind going off in other areas.

Terry and I enjoyed the exhibit of post impressionistic artists. We loved the museum and the ease of finding it, parking and the size of the exhibit. It was there I came across so many techniques I never thought about using and actually tremble at the thought of stepping up to the canvas and trying it. Maybe or maybe not... have to pray about this decision. Trying to figure out what BODY PAINT was in the 1890's... ??
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6
