“It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end.” ― Ernest Hemingway
I think you will enjoy this evolution and journey on this canvas so I am sharing from the beginning step by step. The journey is the most important part of my process, which includes not just these pictures but my thoughts as well.
This piece is being thought out with a bit of frustration. It is with a gallery in mind that has the mindset of telling the artist what they want or need for selling...which is truly NOT the way an artist works if they are taking a journey to explore and discover on the way. I have literally been sketching and thinking about this for over a week and my mind and fingers want to do exactly opposite of what is being asked for. So now what? My way or maybe the journey's way? It certainly will not be any other way. I paint for the creativity of it. The exploration and desires of what could be and then defining what will be.
I am working with acrylics mixed with mat medium and applying with my fingers. Not exactly subtle and earthtones... which is what they ask for, but for me pretty calm so far.
Right now we have a beginning. The story is untold and the destination is unplanned with one exception that I probably will not stay with... earthtones... mud colors, browns, blacks, greys... the palette of my wolves...and they have ask for bison herds, horse herds and elk. I think I have painted one elk in my whole life and certainly have no intention of doing another one!
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11
