Her Children Rise and Call "whats for dinner?" ... Watching Over the House? Pear Painting by Laurie Pace

Reading in scripture each day, Terry and I always come across favorite verses that are familiar.  The one at the bottom of the blog is one of them.
This painting is called Tuscan Pears.  It was a "go to" color palette for me during my pear painting season and this one was a painting dear to my heart.   During this pear painting season in life, I did a commission for a couple in Colorado. It was back then, in 2005, one of the largest canvas I had painted, well over six feet in length. Terry had to build a huge crate for it to be shipped.  We left on vacation while it was being freighted to Colorado and I refused to rest until I knew it had arrived safely, waiting for their call.

And how does this tie in to the Bible verse? The pears in the painting seem simple and noble at the same time. For me that is strength. The pears line up in on a simple 'plane', each painted in jewel tone colors. They are orderly and predictable providing reliability to the composition. The room they are hung in will reflect this strength and stability.

With my upbringing, good or bad, I am a conservative person. I do believe that women are strong and their homes are often a reflection of that strength. Every home has a 'sense' about it, a feeling of calm or peace or even irritation. What a woman brings to that home is hopefully the best part of her. That is the gift given to her by God, to provide for her family inside the home and this reflects into the 'fabric' of the home. The woman sets the temperament of the household.  If she is calm and steady, and filled with the peace of God, so is her home. If she is overworked, under stress and struggling to cope, chances are the house reflects her stress.

Seems like women today are under more pressure than they ever have been. Each of us knows what has to be done and accomplished in our lives to pay bills, keep our homes up, take care of our husband and kids... the list goes one.  But not everyone of us knows how to cope with everything on our list.

I do not believe my children have ever called me "Blessed"... but they did rise and call out "What's for breakfast?" or  "Did you buy me more chips?" or even "When's dinner?"

As far as my husband... yes we are an equal opportunity relationship totally in love with each other and 99 percent of the time respectful of each other's needs and feelings.  Every relationship must be worked on constantly to keep it on course. Do not forget your relationship with God. That by far is the most important one in your life.  If you are connected to him, you have no worries. He carries it all for you.  I am so thankful for all God has provided in our lives. Each day is a blessing for me.

May you be Blessed, Laurie

A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:
Proverbs 31:10, 27-28 NIV
