There were changes in this painting. It hung around in the studio for me to study it and decide if it was working or not working. Not working was the red mane. Here was the before:
I came back to the canvas and began lightening the background in the upper left corner and reworking the manes on the horses. I did some additional touch ups here and there as well. The mood of the painting soared forward with those simple changes. It amazes me to see what coming back to the canvas really can do to finish off a painting.
Every painting has a story and a journey. This one began with sheet music and moved forward. You can still catch glimpses of the music in the background and I purposely left the word from the title of the music, AMAZED showing through in the mane of the horse on the right.
May your day be AMAZING!
“Her pleasure in the walk must arise from the exercise and the day, from the view of the last smiles of the year upon the tawny leaves and withered hedges, and from repeating to herself some few of the thousand poetical descriptions extant of autumn--that season of peculiar and inexhaustible influence on the mind of taste and tenderness--that season which has drawn from every poet worthy of being read some attempt at description, or some lines of feeling.”
― Jane Austen, Persuasion
