Roll Over Red
Topsy Turvy with this one. I have painted two 'roll overs' in the past ten years. This is another expression of FREEDOM!
While I write about diet all the time... I will veer away from that. But did you know that birth control by pill was approved by the FDA and it was released to the public in 1960? One of the 'out of the box' things from the sixties.
The population at that time was 179,979,000.
Today it is over 314 million. Don't think those pills worked. We have not quite doubled in population.
Our national debt was 286.3 billion in 1960.
Today at the writing of this blog it is $17,573,178,726,315.34. Well, we have really stepped up the national debt WAY our of reach. Here is a site with the Debt Clock. Do not think ANYTHING worked to stop the national debt. This is shameful.
They did have headlines back then:
1. Adolph Coors III, the chairman of the board of the Coors Brewing Company, is kidnapped, and later found murdered.
2. The Soviet Union shoots down an American U-2 spy plane and captures its pilot, Francis Gary Powers.
3. Fidel Castro nationalizes all American and foreign-owned property in Cuba
4. Over 1000 Cuban refugees per week begin arriving in Florida fleeing Castro's rule
In medical: Dr. Michael Woodruff carries out the first successful kidney transplant in the United Kingdom
In books: D. H. Lawrence's novel Lady Chatterley's Lover is found not guilty of obscenity.
In Television: The Andy Griffith Show, My Three Sons and The Flinstones
Music Charts top song: "Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini.
At the Movies: Alfred Hitchocks' Psycho was terrifying movie watchers.
