Beta
20 x 30 inches Acrylic on Canvas. SOLD
Acrylic painting and Oil painting both have strong individual qualities. Well, so does watercolor... every media has its strengths and weaknesses and every artist has their strengths and weaknesses working with the different mediums. I was watching a short video on Facebook from another painting doing a floral piece. It was about two minutes long, and watching them work the paint I would have thought it was oil and it was not, it was acrylic.
So no matter which medium you choose to work in, continue to practice working in it daily if you can. You cannot get stronger in your art unless you make time for it. The second challenge comes with finding your voice and personality in your work where you are not imitating another artist's style or work. We all own our own 'voice' in life and we need to own our own art.
Beta was painted several years ago when we lived at the Lake. I really was pushing the edge of trying something new with painting for myself. Finding confidence and feeling strong about a new process is not easy. I know right now I have several things bouncing around that I want to get into the studio to try and family things have intervened with the calendar and the day, but family comes first for me and I know in time this week, I will clear the day, ignore the dust and be back in the studio painting.
Today the roads are frozen. Schools are closed. We have 'day' care of Lady L while her mom is visiting a grandfather in the hospital in another state. I would not miss these moments for anything, and every moment remains an inspiration to press on.
