Beginnings
30 x 40 inches Oil on Canvas. SOLD
I know it seems discouraging to see SOLD on the painting before I start, but I have to for Daily Painters. This is a specific piece for a specific friend... a brother in faith with me and he carefully chose the Bible verses for the foundation of the painting.
I coated the canvas with a tan ivory acrylic to prepare the surface. The verses are in black acrylic. As I begin the oils today this will slowly become the foundation that you will not see, but you will know it is there. He and his wife will know it is there. I truly have no preconceived idea how this painting it going to work .Eric sent me photos of the area around Boulder, Colorado... from mountains, to sunrises, sunsets, images that capture the glory of God in each and every one of them. As I looked over everything sent to me, I realized how important 'light' will be to this painting. God is always lighting our way for us. Even when we amble off into darkness doing it 'our way'... He always has the light ready for us to find our way back.

Funny, when I was so sick with bronchitis December and January and laying in bed at night trying so hard not to cough, I would visualize being in the dark woods... cold of course with snow on the ground... but in the distance was a cabin with the door open. Light spilled out in the night air calling to me, beckoning me to safety. As my thoughts took in every detail of the area around me, my heart stayed linked to the light, not just for it to be a guide, but for it to warm me as well. Again, when I saw the images from Eric... I felt the same beckoning for this painting. It must have the feel of His power.
In a few hours I will be painting away... and I am leaning on the 'Spirit' of the light to guide the 'Spirit of my paint.
