I have continued working the background to the back left but today will be working the back right. I continue to work on and finish up different parts of the composition filling in bits and pieces of strokes to complete the story.

On this Veterans Day I have to share a remembrance of my dad who served in the Army during the Korean war. Terry and I attended a Veteran's Day Banquet on Friday night this past week. It is an annual banquet by the Republican Woman of Northeast Texas where they honor a living veteran in the area for their service.

The company was fabulous being surrounded by men and women that have served in our great military; in addition Michael Lee US Navy Pilot (retired) as the speaker and the honorary Naval Senior Chief, Clinton Marshall Evetts. Their stories warmed our hearts but it was the music that was my un-doing.

That poor little 8 x 10 pony was loved by a company to do very large prints and it was not here for me to even use to scan... so I created something with the same heart, a kindred spirit. The underlays are pages from a western book and then torn papers of different varieties were added along with stains of paint and purposeful areas of paint. This is how I felt. It is probably strange...even for me but I had the best fun sketching it out and painting it. We lost another dear family member this week. She has celebrated her 'continuation' day and is now with her mom and dad and her other cousins. She leaves behind a family that will always celebrate her gentleness.
