Arabian Gold, Horse Painting of Four Black Arabian Horses by A Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Arabians in the Desert, now named
Arabian Gold
24 x 48 inches Oil

I am still working on this horse painting... feeling lost in all the black of the horses. I have this love affair with color in my horse paintings and it is truly difficult for my palette knife to carve out paint all in black. I want to power forth with more color.  The music from my buyer revolves around Moby. I have been to take a liking to many of their pieces.  There is also a song by Jewel, Peggy Lee and Ive Mendez.

Part of my my joy is sharing the music that my collectors love, listening to it when I work on my paintings.

Healing

We all become wounded warriors in life. Life happens and it is not always pretty and joyful emotionally or physically.   Only the power of Christ can bring healing and perfection back to us.  We cannot allow our wounds to define who we are.

Healing is a conscious process.  We have to believe in our own wholeness and completeness with God.  We must rid ourselves of negative thoughts that drain our energy.  We have to learn to be acceptive of ourselves as God created us.

This song means much to my mom.  She had mentioned it several times over the past month. She and I have performed it, but I was always backup and harmonizer not the main singer. My mom has a gift with her voice.  I am more of the camp side singer with the girl scouts or with the church youth group. Not a performer.

This song is a Christian Folk Song by Marsha Stevens. I did not have the music only the memory and the words... so it may not be as she performed it.  I have not played my guitar in almost a year, so sore fingers and via my laptop with limited video abilities....

On this special day in my mom's life, I want to sing this for her and let her know how much Terry and I love her.   Healing is happening right now... Jesus said "Come to the water, stand by my side...I know you are thirsty, you won't be denied...I felt every tear drop when in darkness you cried, and I strove to remind you, That for those tears I died."

Words of my Heart, Laurie

"Then he said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." He stretched it out, and it was restored, as sound as the other."  Matthew 12:13

Mixed Media Collage Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Justus Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 Horse Collage Fall 2013  12 x 18 inches Mixed Media on Canvas.  This was an intentional paint to imitate one of the 100 ponies I did in 2012. That poor little 8 x 10 pony was loved by a company to do very large prints and it was not here for me to even use to scan... so I created something with the same heart, a kindred spirit. The underlays are pages from a western book and then torn papers of different varieties were added along with stains of paint and purposeful areas of paint.  This would not be a painting I would do today, but the goal was to capture the spirit of the first painting. Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Website   Thinking ahead to the Thanksgiving celebration next week, I remembered back to those previous dinners that I cooked, served, ate quickly, and cleaned up.  This is how I felt.  It is probably strange...even for me but I had the best fun sketching it out and painting it. We lost another dear family member this week. She has celebrated her 'continuation' day and is now with her mom and dad and her other cousins.  She leaves behind a family that will always celebrate her gentleness.  My aunt was special to all of us. She loved each of us dearly for who we were and was always ready with a hug or a 'good job'.    My memories are of breakfast pastries smeared with butter on top. It was not like they were not sweet enough as they were, but at her small kitch...

Sleeping Cowboy . Ernest Hemingway . Sunday, a day of rest . Western Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

My life has the tendency to fall apart when I'm awake, you know?” Ernest Hemingway  I really enjoyed painting this scene. It was restful to me as the artist  and loved by our friends.  Sunday is the day of rest. I smiled when I found this in archives and thought it perfect for this day.  If you live in Texas you know that we still have 'rules' about not selling liquor before noon.  If you live in Texas and are in your late thirties and up, you might even remember Blue Laws.   Stores were simply NOT open...
